Ladies & Gentlemen - I am proud to announce that after months I've finally finished a new soundset in my "Future Sound of Retro" for Repro. Rather than giving you the selling points, I thought you might find it interesting to hear how the soundset came into being.

Drum & Bass isn't my genre of making music at all. But I love it and nothing feels better than when driving and a D&B banger comes up on the playlist. So it was with great pleasure when I decided to de-cypher the genre, by listening and deconstructing my favourite D&B and Jungle tracks. And while the sounds themselves weren't difficult, it quickly became apparent that the key to the sound lied in the use of distortion, and different distortion through the ages. Back in the day, that distortion came by re-recording the signal through a hot mixer or pushing the inputs of the sampler.

If you want to watch a good example of this, this video always makes me smile of how wonderfully abusive these guys were:

Anyway. The choice of using Repro came quickly, since Diva doesn't excel when it comes to distortion, and the choice even quicker fell on Repro-5 thanks to its wealth of distortion and saturation options.

It was a lovely journey of making sound, and this soundset taught me lots about D&B, but also how incredible the distortion section of Repro-5 really is.

The soundset is out now and is on sale for 10 Euro until Sunday next weekend (June 13): https://www.plughugger.com/repro-drum-and-bass.html

Here is a little demo of some of my favourite presets from the soundset (loads more on the website).
