How can this be any good for your company?
Exactly. There are pirated versions out there where users don't need to deal with this cloud manager nonsense. And those of us who actually paid and want to do the right thing get punished by having to be online and are subject to thee whims of this software and the cloud connection. I don't see how this software prevents piracy.

Roland should look at the way Native Instruments, Arturia, Plugin Alliance, IK Multimedia, iZotope, etc. work. All of these use their management software to authorize the machines, and from then on users don't have to bother opening that management software again, except to download updates, new software or something like that.

THIS IS THE RIGHT WAY TO WORK WITH THIS KIND OF LICENSES, IMO

Roland is my favorite synth brand and I have bought a lot of Roland gear including RC subscription. Unfortunately, RCM is Roland’s biggest blunder. It’s been more than 3 years since the birth of RCM, and it still behaves like a beta version. That’s why the number of subscribers is way too smaller than Roland’s expectation.

Ask Roland or do a Google search.

The onus is on the one making the extraordinary claim - you. So, provide proof or you’re just another keyboard warrior.

Never ask for proof on the internet unless you want all discussions to end abruptly.

Oh, I better say something on topic too: Great thread, I have only read the last two pages, and I am already confirmed that Roland cloud is a very very very big NEVER-EVER to me. There were reasons I left software for 5 years before returning last year, and this kind of online messy license confirmation bla bla surely qualifies as much as any old reason to stay away. Uhe, Tone2, TAL and even Arturia make it so easy for me now a days, and in perfect coorporation with my Reason 11 and Nektar controllers. Roland cloud looks like a step back in comparison, certainly not forward.

I'm on Windows 10 Roland Cloud Manager release 2.5.12. It says that 2.5.14 is available and the release notes include a fix to a quite annoying resize bug on hi-dpi monitors I'd love to sort out, but when I click update I get a "The Roland Cloud services aren't available at the moment" dialog. Seen that before and normally you just try a few times and it connects, but it just doesn't want to connect.

I have successfully updated a number of other things and installed new sample packs and instrument patches this week, but since this version came out I've been unable to update to it. I went to the site and grabbed their latest installer, but apparently it won't do an update so the only option it gives is for me to uninstall the existing manager.

Can I do an uninstall/reinstall of just the cloud manager without affecting existing plugin installs?
I really don't want the hassle of downloading everything again unless it can't be helped.

One other bit of weirdness, has anyone had any issues loading Roland Cloud patches in Unify? I can get one instance of say, System 8, working, but if I try and load another it crashes me out of Unify plus whatever DAW I was hosting it in.

OK so one thing also about the Internet, only the people having problems are the ones bitching and moaning. I personally haven't had any issues with RCM. I have seen other such posts here and on Gearspace as well. Try it for yourself, don't just judge based on people here complaining.

Thanks for the advice, but it is not necessary in this case. Surely there have been reported more problems already than about my other gear, so I do not have to calculate with a potential silent majority to decide. I am not a Roland emulation fan to an extent where easier solutions are not sufficient to me. I already have more than I need in these departments from other manufacturers.

So all of that really has nothing to do with what I said but that's OK. I mean why not just come in here, chime in about how bad it is when you haven't even tried it yourself, then say well I'm really not a fan anyhow. Seems an odd position to take but I guess it is a forum on the net.

Ah, come on. My opinon is obviously one of hundreds. Was just to say something on topic as tail to my never ask for proof comment. Some are moore picky about these internet-subscrition things, and I am one of them. To be ignored if it does not fit your own view. Nothing worth to be indignant about.

Maybe they were updating for 606 day. You know how Apple takes down their site every time there is an announcment? :)

Post

That update hasn’t been working since Friday hence why I was asking about it too
