that's why the plugins are nothing like the real thing.fmr wrote: Tue Jun 08, 2021 8:14 pmWHICH real thing? This thing is (was?) so temperamental that YOUR real thing would not bring you anywhere near MY real thing.![]()
too predictable
it's why i love the real ones, that untamedness. it's so alive!!
and yes, i have quite a few 10s of hours experience with 3 different real ones. sadly not mine. id love one though if i was rich. if i outlive my uncle, ill get one with my inheritance

Same boat here!.. But we have MESS here in Melbourne and I've been lucky enough to get some time on several VCS3's amongst other rare and legendary instruments..vurt wrote: Tue Jun 08, 2021 10:09 pm that's why the plugins are nothing like the real thing.

Do either of you own a Synthi? Have either of you ever been in the same room as a Synthi? What is this conclusion based on, if not actual experience with the original (let alone comparing the original to all the mentioned plugins) ?

Mine was sitting in an attic for years unused and crackled like hell, none of the emus can sound that unusably shitty… I should have given it to Mr. Rehberg instead of selling it though…fmr wrote: Tue Jun 08, 2021 8:14 pmWHICH real thing? Another vote for http://kx77free.free.fr/English-page-vst.html Polymod Kx. Extremely expressive instrument, really gives you more options for sound design in a synthi format than many others. Lot's of good tracks came out of that OSC

Just in case I do get curious later on, care to clarify why I shouldn't spend the money on the other 2 you mentioned? What are they lacking in comparison?

tbh, they're all lacking the "life" of a real one, but all will give you a good enough for the mix, version of what most people would want from a synthesiser, the sounds you've heard on records.
ive only demoed the others, a while ago now (nearer release) so i wouldn't really have details, i"personally" felt, they didn't offer me anything closer to the original, so didn't feel worth dropping money on them.
id demo all of them, you might feel the more up to date programming is a better sound for you.
or the extra features might make it more suitable.
just for me, already having reaktor, i didn't feel the difference was worth it.
plenty of people like both of them, so only opinions
