Still not working for me. Could be a Windows update specific issue I guess. I've had a boatload recently and no non-corrupt restore point to roll back to unfortunately.

It worked fine for me - I just took that screen grab when I get the error the first time. 5 seconds later I checked for the update again and it installed fine. I'm guessing the 606 Day is hammering their servers...WatchTheGuitar wrote: Sun Jun 06, 2021 3:09 pm That update hasn’t been working since Friday hence why I was asking about it too

Thanks guys. I have seen enough. Excuse me for being a delicate little princess (yes, post it in the quoted out of context thread), but I don't have your patience. Love Roland gear, but do not need Roland to make the software emulations. Godspeed to all of you, including Roland

RCM had been working OK on my M1 Mac Mini for the past 3 months. Now RCM asks me to enter my email address and password every frieking time I launch it. I'm not sure how long I can tolerate this cr@p.
Edited to add: So, the latest RCM version is 2.5.14. Mine is V2.5.13 and the new update is nowhere to be found in RCM

I think at this point nobody needs an explainer of what “lifetime” means in this context.

Hi, Echoes in the Attic! I just want to clarify one thing in this conversation with regards to permanent authorization. While I understand that this has been a request, I am attempting to be as transparent as I can be about the information that I have and am able to share. Permanent authorization will most likely not be an option for few reasons. If this structure is not for you, that's totally ok. Everyone has a different workflow.Echoes in the Attic wrote: Wed May 26, 2021 7:20 pmThat's great, definitely better. But I would still request a permanent activation. That is what most of my licenses are and I've had issues with the Roland license server and I don't really feel like taking chances on things I own not being available to me. So I think the right thing to do is allow permanent activation for lifetime licenses so I'm not at risk of my licenses being deactivated because a phone home didn't work one day. I really don't want to be at the mercy of your servers. So once a month still isn't enough to make me buy more licenses. Thanks.Brian.McClelland wrote: Wed May 26, 2021 7:01 pmHi, Echoes in the Attic! We have changed this recently, actually. Previously, the authentication process would check every seven days, it has been changed to check once a month. An internet connection is only required to authenticate instruments once every 30 days currently. Thanks!Echoes in the Attic wrote: Wed May 26, 2021 12:59 pm Roland, let us use these without constantly having to be online. Just give us a challenge/response and I'll buy many more of these plugins.![]()
In the meantime, the change from seven day authorization to thirty days came due to the requests of the members of this community, to which, I thank everyone for the feedback. We're glad to work on feature requests and platform improvements, as our goal is to share these music making tools with the world. We respect and value the input of the members of the Roland Cloud Community and we're always working to bring fun new instruments and sounds. Thanks!
Hi, WatchtheGuitar! Sorry about the difficulty getting the update through. If you're ever having an issue updating from Roland Cloud Manager, we always have the most recent version available here ( https://rolandcloud.com/catalog/essenti ... ud-manager ). When installing, your uninstall and reinstall won't erase your instruments. Also, if you ever need assistance, we are always available to help through the Contact Support link at http://www.rolandcloud.com/support .WatchTheGuitar wrote: Sun Jun 06, 2021 12:47 pm I'm on Windows 10 Roland Cloud Manager release 2.5.12. It says that 2.5.14 is available and the release notes include a fix to a quite annoying resize bug on hi-dpi monitors I'd love to sort out, but when I click update I get a "The Roland Cloud services aren't available at the moment" dialog. Seen that before and normally you just try a few times and it connects, but it just doesn't want to connect.
I have successfully updated a number of other things and installed new sample packs and instrument patches this week, but since this version came out I've been unable to update to it. I went to the site and grabbed their latest installer, but apparently it won't do an update so the only option it gives is for me to uninstall the existing manager.
Can I do an uninstall/reinstall of just the cloud manager without affecting existing plugin installs?
I really don't want the hassle of downloading everything again unless it can't be helped.
One other bit of weirdness, has anyone had any issues loading Roland Cloud patches in Unify? I can get one instance of say, System 8, working, but if I try and load another it crashes me out of Unify plus whatever DAW I was hosting it in.
One note about Unify, a user on Facebook had mentioned load times within regarding Roland Cloud instruments and expansion content. The more content and expansions will cause a slightly longer load time, but we haven't had any crash reports regarding this. I'm checking with the team about any issues we relating to use with Unify now. Thanks!
Hi, EnochLight! Sorry about the error there. Feel free to Contact Support through the menu in the lower left corner of Roland Cloud Manager, and we can help find a fix for you. Thanks!EnochLight wrote: Sun Jun 06, 2021 2:54 pmThis just in:TribeOfHǫfuð wrote: Sun Jun 06, 2021 2:17 pm Some are moore picky about these internet-subscrition things, and I am one of them.![]()

I don't have a problem with subscriptions per se, or even software that calls home now and then. But that software needs to work flawlessly. I need to stress that I haven't had any catastrophic problems with RC, but it's a constant battle against small things that drive me crazy. I routinely open all my manager software (NI, Waves, Toontrack, Izotope, PA, XLN Audio, etc) once every couple of weeks or so, to make sure I have all the latest updates. It's mostly a pretty quick and painless process with all of them. And well, it should be, that's really the purpose of this type of software, to easily manage installation, updates, authorization, etc.
Enter RC. Just opening the manager takes longer than any of the other similar apps. From start to finish (first the status bar icon, then the app window), it takes around 20 seconds on both of my relatively powerful Macs. I can't help thinking, just what is it doing for 20 seconds? Yeah, 20 seconds is not a lifetime, but...
RCM doesn't ask me to log in every single time, but I feel recently it has started doing that more often.
Worst of all, updating the instruments and the app itself always feels a little obscure and unreliable. Just recently it said on the top of the window "New version available", but the Library page didn't show anything that could be updated. The About window confirmed that my version is 2.5.13 and I saw elsewhere that .14 is available, but heck if there was any way to do that update through the app. Eventually the "New version available" notification just disappeared, and I manually un- & reinstalled the manager, and now I have the latest version.
This is very basic stuff that many companies have perfected already. A manager app should be 100% invisible and just work, and make your life easier, not the other way around. Like someone said, currently RCM feels very much like beta software, even after a few years. I still have so much love for Roland synths that I'm willing to put up with all these things, I just wish it was a smoother experience.

I'm with you. I tried to download a free sound expansion pack for my MC-707 through the Roland app a few weeks ago. Looks easy enough: Just select the product page in the MC-707 expansion category, click on the prominent download button and transfer the resulting file via SD card to the device. But this just gives a "Wrong File Format Error" on the 707 when trying to load the file. And that's just the end of the story for most users, no more information at all. Tried a different extension, a different SD card and even different browsers and operating systems but still the same error.
After a lot of searching on the web I discovered that you have to download the expansion into your library first and then another download button in the user library entry of the expansion appears that actually creates a file that is compatible with the MC-707. Same file name, same extension and same file size as the broken file. I guess that this has something to do with Roland's pathological DRM paranoia. However, I got the sounds up and running at the end but it still was a huge WTF? moment.
The Roland cloud thing is broken in so many ways that it's just unbelievable.

Even today, in one of my machines, I had to download the installer, uninstall the previous version and reinstall the new one.
And as it's been said, it's unbelievable how slow this is to open. This things is really sh**ty
