Oh! :o Had no idea that was the case, so thanks for mentioning that. I guess the Black Magic solution would make most sense in that case; I believe it should do both.

Yes, the Fairlight / audio editing part of Resolve is a usable audio only DAW.

Oh, Magix Vegas Pro (at least my 14) has a beat ruler too.

...
And considering workflowwise: If there is a completed song it is easy to load it up into some video-editor and to make all the visuals therein. For free you also have shotcut and OpenShot.

Some work of course, but better videos probably.
Can I ask: for the true video editors (i.e. not DAWs), is there anyone that's free and easy to use that works with tempos? What I'm after is an editor that understands that my song is in 112 BPM and snaps markers accordingly (instead of to whole seconds or so). I made a video in Premiere once, but getting scene changes to snap to beats was a pain, and in the end you could tell I'd done it manually anyway.
Late reply: I don't know if there are any which could do this well.
In FL Studio the Z-Game-Editor add on is fully automatable, but I do the tweaking by hand.

FL Studio for the win.

Fl Studio doesn't have a any video editing tools, it has a visualization generator but that is in no way "video editing".
Mixcraft & Reaper have some actual video editing tools.

The standard is Nuendo which is the same as Cubase since version 10.

Thanks! It seems Cubase Elements (roughly 100 euros) can do this: https://new.steinberg.net/cubase/features/

I would definitely use a separate video editor rather trying to do it all in one package. There are so many free ones to choose from these days, we are really spoilt for choice. DaVinci Resolve has already been mentioned but we also have the following freebies:-
hitfilm express - https://fxhome.com/product/hitfilm-express
KdenLive - https://kdenlive.org/en/
Shotcut - https://www.shotcut.org/
Olive - https://www.olivevideoeditor.org/
I invite you to 'voyage' over to https://adrianearnshaw.com, sign up for some fun e-mail 'blasts', and look forward to helping you launch your ears - and projects - into the stratosphere.

Yes, and that puts it above the pack. Fairlight is the DAW within DaVinci…
