PieBerger wrote: Mon Jun 14, 2021 12:22 pm I hope so and I hope it fixes the problems I'm having; I can't even get into my latest collab project to troubleshoot because it crashes the program...I've sent crash reports and I'm now at the mercy of Ableton support, which to be fair has always been good, so I remain optimistic :)
i hope so! ableton support, in my experience, is one of the best, next to arturia, they take their time (not that you have to wait), but ask more, etc. (and arturia also tried to solve a problem that i had with 1 synth on 1 system..). well, bitwig support..... perhaps, i don't, but it seems the problem has gone away in 3.3.10, but i have to double check, when my studio is cooled down..

too much information!

i have experienced only 1 or 2 crashes, last one with M4L devices (again), but perhaps one time only. i think one time only. just installed them (alp), perhaps that is thing, still. and they had be converted. and then use them and mangle them.. afterwards no probs...

i started with ableton live 10 intro (came with push 2), and really began to use live, when i upgraded to suite. crashfest. already mentioned, i knew also the reputation (but that can be biased, there are no threads; i don't have a problem...).

but stability gladly in my case is great.

so fingers crossed for you!

i joined centercode, for 10 beta, but didn't use the beta's anymore, at some point. i want a stable release (although the beta's are quite stable..).
and before 11 was released, i also joined 11 beta. i only stay in for the release notes, that i get an email...

and to post; why isn't the SIMPLER simple MPE! gggggrrrrrr

beside that me like live 11 suite.. so much fun, so many great sounds i can built from scratc, yes of course; samples, but i do also make them myself.. in EMIT for example, but what you can do with one sample! through all those devices!

o well...

o yes, this was a reaction about 10, yes great that they still give 10 attention, perhaps not strange, 11 isn't for everyone, so a stable 10, is good for business..
but i am quite impressed, perhaps it was once upon a time, worser, about the beta's, and the updates, ableton support, and yes; live 11 suite. although i already like 10 suite, but for me 11 suite, is o well, such a playground (also because of MPE).

enough!!

(and yes i have also bitwig studio 3.3.10, which will be the last version, for a while, my upgrade plan will expire just before 4 arrives, or too late.... when people say; bitwig is thé experimental playground, wel it isn't. it is certainly a great experimental playground, simply a different one. that is why i have both...)

This is a nice little article- 12 best MAX devices in 2021...

https://www.musictech.net/guides/buyers ... s-in-2021/

Nube is very cool- pity its MAC only!
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S49MK2, Studio One, BWS, Live 12. PUSH 3 SA, Osmose, Summit, Pro 3, Prophet8, Syntakt, Digitone, Drumlogue, OP1-F, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Nord Drum3P, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

Out of curiosity - how are M4L devices copy-protected? I've few paid ones and I don't see anything that connects them to e.g. my Ableton user account or e-mail. If you do collect & save they seem to be saved with the project, too.

That's odd - I thought Max stuff was always cross platform?

I think it's mostly if you get into writing actual code for the Max patch. It's probably possible to port it, but it would require someone to rewrite the user generated code for Windows. That's my guess anyway and I'm sticking to it. (for now)

Post

I just assumed it was because it loads in Max4Live so platform would be irrelevant, just as I can load a Live project made in Mac in Live on Windows too.

They put little effort in making this list unfortunately. Listing many very old devices (2015), while there are so many new and better devices (including free ones) that really deserve a 2021 label. Links to some of those are already posted in this thread.

I have no idea, I have neve seen that before either but it is the MI code from Cloud (as its open source) ported to MAX, so maybe its something to do with the code holder? Its free anyway, I may try it!!

Not always. In terms of M4L, the ones that are that Im aware of that havent been, either rely on video-related functionality that's not completely cross-platform, or on custom objects.

The video-processing package EboSuite, by Isotonik, is one such, for example.
my other modular synth is a bugbrand

In this instance it's due to the call to the external (OSX only) object vb.mi.clds~
Just tried building the objects from the github source ( https://github.com/v7b1/vb.mi-dev ) but failed at the first hurdle (I'm terrible at cmake!)

perhaps the M4L nube contains C++, because.... mutable instruments source code is C++, and it is only therefore compatible with macOS (not compiled for windows..).

MAX can 'contain' C++, if i am correct. MAX ís cross-platform, if you use platform agnostic code.. i.e. all that is built into MAX. which can do everything.

MAX coders will give a better answer.

I honestly have no idea how I did it but fumbling my way through msys & visual studio it looks like I somehow managed to build all the externals for Windows x64 platforms :tu:

Download the following and place in C:\Users\(username)\Documents\Max 8\Library\

https://ilovecubus.co.uk/pete/vb.mi.clds~.mxe64

Nube should now work a-ok in m4l in Windows :)

Hmmm, if Clouds can be done, all the open source NI modules can be done, Plaits anyone
