antic604 wrote: Thu Jun 17, 2021 8:59 am I wonder where's Push3?

Just yesterday they were looking for "supply chain manager" and some weeks ago for "firmware specialist", so hopefully it's out this year :)
I hope not, my Push 2 will get jealous and I can't afford any new big gear purchases this year
I can always sell a DAW or two to help finance that :P
Hehe.

I think I'll still he happy with my Push 2 for a while yet, I barely use it to its maximum potential, it's just nice to have a physical controller for recording automation and jamming in chords and leads, especially with scale locking!

That was never a concern. It's more about that I'd hate buying it and learning that v3 comes out in 1 month :)

aha the push 2 discussion.. in a bitwig thread.. it seems they go round the same sun..

my intiution.... (ok, laugh) says a push 3 will not come soon; reasons;

1. not fully used by ableton
2. making a new controller costs developing time ánd the production costs in the beginning.
3. the push 2 is long on the market, so production cost is low
4. it is almost still the same price (some times lower, it seems now in between, sometimes higher)
5. so profit!

and all is integrated, or can be integrated in the Push 2.
about all is integrated; all that is necessary is there.
not all visualisations that can be done are done..

and look at mashine+ nothing more than a maschine mk3, visually, with 2 buttons that differ (and sturdy build, also of encoders?). 2 buttons differ: the text...

there are more controllers out there, that have quite a lifespan.

i bought maschine mk3 and the push 2 b-stock, in a time that the second hand prices didn't differ that much, with that price, and warranty...
the maschine mk3 you can get now, quite cheaper (not at price i bought it for, yet..). the push 2 fluctuates more.

but this is speculation of course.

I tend to agree, unless thy go more linnstrument (more fully MPE not just Polly AT) its hard to see what they can add TBH- sure, there are always things, but enough for a 3?

I wonder if they are more likely to do something different, like a PUSH Mini at a lower price point.

Maybe Bitwig will make a dedicated Hardware Controller? The seem utterly reliant on one person who isn't an employee for scrips to make the most common controls work with Bitwig at all.
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S49MK2, Studio One, BWS, Live 12. PUSH 3 SA, Osmose, Summit, Pro 3, Prophet8, Syntakt, Digitone, Drumlogue, OP1-F, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Nord Drum3P, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

I'd pay more for a smaller & lighter Push 2.

You'd buy and sell it 3 times, at least, I'd say

That's absolutely fine for me. Additionally I can bounce out stems and then I have all I need. The Force is just used in my synth cave as a playground for new ideas.

Too bad I can't test it anymore as my plan ran out. Maybe I'll try it again in a year or two when there is enough new stuff in Bitwig to justify a new plan and to compensate for the loss from the past year.

mmmmmh, of course very personal. and if you have space, i have a lot of controllers, and no space for all... o well one, but is no next to me, laptop. o another one... that is wrapped now...

i prefer the full featured ones. maschine micro, or how is it called, o well people like it, use it, so what is the point.

in a way there are smaller push 2's, novation launchpad is it called? no feedback (LED screen), but still it think great, don't own it, never used it. and other brands have almost the same or more extended, like AKAI.

but i like the form, of the Push 2, not too big (o i am also used to an MCU 2003 version, so, that is a tank on your desk...).

SLiC wrote: Thu Jun 17, 2021 8:02 amI was responding to your post where you said you don't need external VST fx in Bigwig and you can make anything you need?
Somebody else may have said that. I didn't.

SLiC wrote: Thu Jun 17, 2021 8:02 amLive has far more interesting complete FX out of the box, many 1000's of them for free
No, actually, not out of the box... those thousands of M4L devices are not part of Live. You have to go to a website and download them. Lots of them are buggy, out of date, or simply don't work.

If I said Bitwig comes out of the box with all free VST's, that would be no more inaccurate than your statement.

I don't mean cut-down Push2. I mean fully-featured one, just smaller. It doesn't have to be so big, at least for me. The pads could well be the size of the ones in Launchpad X, the buttons around pads can be smaller as well, it doesn't have to be fully metal and weigh a ton, etc.

SLiC wrote: Thu Jun 17, 2021 8:02 amUltimately the 'Grid' has the advantage of being simple and well integrated. It is however very limited at the moment (audio only, no real user interfaces, no ability to add low level code to make your own modules) and is no where near as powerful as M4L.
That is like saying Eurorack is very limited cause you cannot take a functional control off of one module and put it on another.

In the years I was using Live, I never once successfully made a M4L device. It's arcane coding sh!t that I have no interest in spending my time on.

By comparison, within 10 minutes of trying the Grid, I was making useful synth sounds. From the perspective of being useful to me and quickly getting results I am happy with, the Grid is great and M4L isn't.

If I want a large user library full of lots of FX and Sound generators, I have the Reaktor user Library at hand.

ok, the pads, are for me small enough, smaller will be, o well. the buttons around the pads can be smaller, i agree. also the touch-fader is a biggggg. i get it now.

the weight? yes, it always in my studio, on a ikea plastic stand, so it lies not flat, works better...
but sometimes i use it with my laptop, don't mind the weight, but for live purposes, o well i can get that too.

it works also pretty great with bitwig studio. only i tend not to use it, i have also a panaroma p1, but i notice, no access to the FX channels (or overlook something). why not use it for bitiwg, afterwards, all collors are off... when starting live..

and strangely a problem i had with panaroma p1, has been solved, i reported it, i got a one line response, can't be reproduced, but in 3.3.10, it is gone! (first time i start bitwig studio, 15% audio engine, second time, 0.2 %, empty project, and again and again..).

o well o that is on topic, no this is beta 4. that i don't use, my upgrade plan expires june 26. i will buy an upgrade plan, on black friday or next year, and wait, for more.

it feels like a lottery, will i make it? if it comes after a week, via support, the can say, o well that one week. but still a lottery...

A Push 3 standalone that can export ALS and open on the Bitwig 4, given the amount it can import would be the second-best thing besides a Bitwig standalone.
