Hi guys. recently switched to waveform pro. been using it for a week or so and i am having a few teething problems moving\copying multiple midi clips.. especially clips with automation info. hope im just being a simpleton. this is kid stuff i know but ive read the manual.. watched tutorials but the instructions all seem to end at editing single midi clips

i can select\move\copy a single midi clip no problem

i can select\move\copy multiple midi clips on a single track... no problem

if i select multiple midi clips across 2 or more tracks and attempt to copy them (select\ctrl\drag to copy?) then the length of the new copied clips are all increased and overlapping each other .....and it makes a right mess

if i select all the midi clips in the song (only a very small project) and try to move them all along say 8 bars to increase my intro.. it behaves erratically.. all the clips jump to the bottom of the screen and then lag behind the cursor as i try to move them back up...taking time to catch up

ive managed to work around these issues by moving the clips 1 track at a time but its a bit tedious ay.. midi clips containing automation data are even more problematic

i can move\copy a single midi clip with automation data no problem

if i select 2 or more clips 0n a single track with automation to move\copy them, then the automation data is lost.. i have the green automation lock button activated..it copies individual clips containing automation fine

these problems aside im enjoying the software... just hope someone can tell me im being a moron and set me straight....all the best :phones:

Select the clips by lassoing while holding <alt>. Then you can drag the clips wherever you want. If you press <ctrl> and then drag, you will make a copy.

This is odd, I'm also somewhat new to waveform but these actions work without a hitch for me, going by the exact procedure you describe. I assume you are starting to drag from the blank areas in the clip headers?

It doesn't sound like you don't know what you're doing, so I find this intriguing...

Whoa. I was not aware automation lock was a thing... Thanks for that.

I could observe a slight impact on GUI responsiveness when the lock is engaged, but it's not significant. Maybe it could make a difference if you selected "low detail inteface" in the appearance settings.

Thanks for replying guys. I'll try using alt to select see if that helps. is it just me whos finding the software unstable. after using reason and cubase for years this software seems very temperamental. i have midi keyboard crashes when i load a new instrument whilst the track is playing ..have to restart.
same sometimes if i load a plugin during play... crashes have to re start. copying clips sends it into meltdown. increases the size of the clips.. creates annoying little slithers of clips on the end of my clips. copying automation is a chore. ive persevered as i payed for the pro version but i'm getting to the end of my tether with it now. the one saving grace is its continual backup saving function. cheers
