Yeah, you could just drop a bunch of the same timbres with altered parameters on the gradient and modulate between them using the position slider. I wasn't able to get it to work as smoothly as manually moving sliders in the edit menu unless I had a fair number of points. The position on that gradient just cross fades between the two adjacent timbre points, unless I'm mistaken. I'm not near my computer to check.psynical wrote: Sat Jun 26, 2021 11:10 pm >You can't modulate the selections in the editing menu, right?
That's kind of what the gradient in the middle is for, isn't it?

So this is just sampl crossfading? There's no spectral morphing or anything going on? Sounded like crossfading to me.
Still a cool interface that seems to allow you to come up with useful things quickly.

It acts as an oscillator relative to the position of the playhead.psynical wrote: Sat Jun 26, 2021 11:10 pm >You can't modulate the selections in the editing menu, right?

Very nice, but, for whatever reason, the 90-day trial failed within the day. Wonderful.
Hope the paid version doesn't suffer the same issue.
Still, interesting synth, ...
Anyone know how long the intro price lasts (or what the regular price will be)?

Based on Spacecraft and WaveRazor, I’d put the intro pricing at a month and regular pricing somewhere between $99-$149 (this is pure speculation).

Hey, I am the developer of Abyss. Apologies for the inconvenience. I did an extensive beta period and this has never occurred before. I'd like to track down the root cause to be able to fix it - would you mind sending me a personal message to peter@dawesomemusic.com ?c0nsilience wrote: Sat Jun 26, 2021 9:01 pm Thank you. So, on macOS, the user manual, data folder, and factory preset folder show up under Computer>Library>Application Support>Dawesome>Abyss. I got it to work once I relocated the data folder and factory preset folder to User>Library>Application Support>Dawesome>Abyss

Wow, I was not aware that F. Nietzsche and G. Flaumbert made compositions using Abyss. I will demo it asapPetVor wrote: Sun Jun 27, 2021 9:28 amHey, I am the developer of Abyss. OK, that provides me a little more assurance that I won't have the same issues with a purchased version as I am having with the 90-day trial version (with no Tracktion license file for offline activation that I'm aware of), but ...
I was directing this question (at this point, anyway) a little more at number of activations, movement between systems, etc.

The manual is silent on number of activations, etc, but the dev's email address is: peter@dawesomemusic.com if you wanted to check directly.
Looks like activation is handled through Tracktion.com, and I don't recall ever having a problem with installing other Tracktion software on new machines, etc. Your activation is tied to a machine ID, so if you do get a new system, you'll need to reactivate the software...but this is par for the course for many vendors.
According to this article, Tracktion allows you to install (their DAW) on three separate machines:
https://tracktion.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/ ... -Machines-
...but I couldn't say if this is the case with Abyss, you'd need to confirm with the dev or Tracktion.

Thanks! That seems to cover most of it.mcnelson wrote: Sun Jun 27, 2021 3:21 pm The manual is silent on number of activations, etc, but the dev's email address is: peter@dawesomemusic.com if you wanted to check directly.

Yes, this is all correct. Abyss uses the Tracktion activation system and this is tied to a machine ID. Your license allows you to install Abyss on three machines.mcnelson wrote: Sun Jun 27, 2021 3:21 pm The manual is silent on number of activations, etc, but the dev's email address is: peter@dawesomemusic.com if you wanted to check directly.

Tracktion delivers two refreshing tone generators with Hyperion and Abyss. The creators both have a scientific background and have had nothing to do with programming synthesizers in the past. This may be a bit unfamiliar at first in some places as far as operation is concerned, but this turns out to be an advantage relatively quickly. From my point of view the sonic results are great and making music is extremely fun. Respect!L.B. wrote: Sun Jun 27, 2021 10:13 amWow, I was not aware that F. Nietzsche and G. Abyss, Hyperion, and WaveRazor will quickly become the triumvirate of my synths. Due to the sheer creative inspiration that I’ve mainly derived from hardware in the past, I am beside myself. Abyss has a UI that only a genuine artist could create. Brilliant!
