Maybe it's the same there: Slowly progressing.recursive one wrote: Mon Jun 28, 2021 11:12 amWithin psytrance, "progressive" does have a definite meaning - slower, less intence, more groovy and more atmospheric.chk071 wrote: Mon Jun 28, 2021 9:22 am The German Wikipedia has a nice explanation what "progressive" means in Progressive Trance (translated with Google):
I totally agree with that being the general characteristic of tracks in that genre. At least in this case, I don't think it's an umbrella term, which can mean anything. As usual (and like with everything), there will be borderline cases."Progressive" means "progressive", "building up". This means the typical, successive structure of the compositions, which usually extends over several minutes and is in stark contrast to the classic stanza-chorus structure that is often found in trance. At a speed of around 128 to 134 BPM, every quarter is emphasized with a bass drum in 4/4 time. Hi-hats and snares are typically divided into even (i.e., non-dotted) sixteenths.
Yes, that pretty much what progressive trance is I think (seems to be some new remix but I know this track for years).chk071 wrote: Mon Jun 28, 2021 3:48 pm I think this is a pretty fitting example of Progressive Trance (and one of my favorite tracks in that genre ever, coincidentally):
Yes, I listen on Di.fm also sometimes genres that I would probably never hear otherwise, like Drum & Bass or TrapLeVzi wrote: Mon Jun 28, 2021 5:01 pm That DI.FM is a cool place, took me a while to find a genre I would fit into, landed on underground techno.
But had a quick listen to classic eurodance, for old times sake.

I briefly listened to the hardcore and gabber stations, they aren't playing good stuff at all.4damind wrote: Mon Jun 28, 2021 7:00 pmGood choice (I made the most important station boldchk071 wrote: Mon Jun 28, 2021 6:33 pmDI.FM is the only internet radio station I listen to (and 95% of what I actually listen toLeVzi wrote: Mon Jun 28, 2021 5:01 pm That DI.FM is a cool place, took me a while to find a genre I would fit into, landed on underground techno.). Interesting to listen through all stations as well. I found e.g. "Gabber" (very chaotic hardcore techno) quite funny. Anyway, it's sometimes interesting to listen also to music outside your own "comfort zone". Without radio streamers like Di.fm, it wouldn't even possible. The mainstream radio with the always same chart tracks you can not really listen in the long run....
That font looks like Tidy Trax.chk071 wrote: Mon Jun 28, 2021 3:48 pm
