So it's Dark Progressive Melodic Techo & Trance & Chillstep that I like :dog:

With a dash of Psy on the side...

Blast from the past....
Oakenfold.

God know what this would be classified as now, Rave back then?

Did you ever listen to Progressive Dub Detroit Uplifting Vomitstep? I reckon you'll love it!

chk071 wrote: Mon Jun 28, 2021 9:22 am The German Wikipedia has a nice explanation what "progressive" means in Progressive Trance (translated with Google):
"Progressive" means "progressive", "building up". This means the typical, successive structure of the compositions, which usually extends over several minutes and is in stark contrast to the classic stanza-chorus structure that is often found in trance. At a speed of around 128 to 134 BPM, every quarter is emphasized with a bass drum in 4/4 time. Hi-hats and snares are typically divided into even (i.e., non-dotted) sixteenths.
I totally agree with that being the general characteristic of tracks in that genre. At least in this case, I don't think it's an umbrella term, which can mean anything. As usual (and like with everything), there will be borderline cases.
Within psytrance, "progressive" does have a definite meaning - slower, less intence, more groovy and more atmospheric.
Maybe it's the same there: Slowly progressing. :)

I think this is a pretty fitting example of Progressive Trance (and one of my favorite tracks in that genre ever, coincidentally ;)):

Yes, that pretty much what progressive trance is I think (seems to be some new remix but I know this track for years).

Or these, more classic examples

That DI.FM is a cool place, took me a while to find a genre I would fit into, landed on underground techno.

But had a quick listen to classic eurodance, for old times sake.

Yes, I listen on Di.fm also sometimes genres that I would probably never hear otherwise, like Drum & Bass or Trap :phones:
But is also quite interesting for us musicians, because you reach so many people and if you get more often a "thumbs up" (than maybe others), you are of course happy :hihi:

DI.FM is the only internet radio station I listen to (and 95% of what I actually listen to :)). Chillout, Atmospheric Breaks, Space Dreams, Ambient, Trance, Classic Trance, Deep House... all top notch track selection.

Good choice (I made the most important station bold :P)
Interesting to listen through all stations as well. I found e.g. "Gabber" (very chaotic hardcore techno) quite funny. Anyway, it's sometimes interesting to listen also to music outside your own "comfort zone". Without radio streamers like Di.fm, it wouldn't even possible. The mainstream radio with the always same chart tracks you can not really listen in the long run....

I briefly listened to the hardcore and gabber stations, they aren't playing good stuff at all.

Like a bit of Armin do ya, I used to have ASOT 1 to 600 stored on the HD lol, since we stream everything these days not a single MP3 stored lol...Well bar my own tracks...

Here's some tracks from Armin with some live singers (Vocal Trance category), some good remixes for ya and Fact from another legend, Carl Cox.

Armin van Buuren feat. Susana - Shivers (Alex M.O.R.P.H. Remix)

Laura Jansen - Use Somebody (Armin Remix)

Armin feat. Trevor Guthrie - This Is What It Feels Like (Live at The Best Of Armin Only)

And from another legend Carl Cox Fact Part 1 & 2

FatBoy Slim DJing down on Brighton Beach, they shut him down as it was getting out of hand with too many people or something lol

Mix of all kinds of stuff there for you, but from that Carl Cox Fact stuff (had that on CD), it's quite old, but you can hear like a bit of it in virtually every track created in these genres today.

Paul Oakenfold & Tiesto another 2 great DJs.

Tutorial on how to make a track (lol) :ud:

And piss take 2, but ironic...
