There is no fuss... Go to the Cloud Tab / Extensions, click on icon, click on install button, restart DAW and done. It's never been something I've personally needed whilst producing music but it's at least there to provide some sort of context to loops and sample content, now that I've installed it myself.trusampler wrote: Wed Jun 30, 2021 1:18 amNot when I can load up Cubase 11 Pro and use the genius of mediabay, and things just work without the fuss. thnx thoTHE INTRANCER wrote: Tue Jun 29, 2021 9:38 pmNot even with the free Sound Set Builder 4 Extension for Studio One ?trusampler wrote: Tue Jun 29, 2021 6:39 pm Yawn.. no updates made to the browser ,still can't tag our content. The great thing about S1 is that none of the features they've added in S1 affect me. If I don't want to use them I don't have to. Everything else still pretty much works the same as it did since about version 2.6.
I know some don't like the Show Page but a lot of people need something like MainStage without the complexity and setup of something like Live. The Show Page is easier to setup than even MainStage so if you do live shows on a regular basis, it's a no brainer as there really aren't many alternatives on the PC side. So I appreciate Presonus finding an underserved market and trying to serve it especially since it fits their wheelhouse pretty well.

Personally i just think S1 adding a Show Page is a bit like Ableton Live adding score edit…it is at best misdirected resources in my opinion, they had work left to do with recording and editing audio and midi, that is why I bought and use S1 and I don’t remember ever seeing a single user request for a Show Page.

Well, their whole shtick(sp?) they repeat in marketing meterials recently is to cover your needs from production, through mix & mastering to live performance. And I guess it kinda works, although them being a US company rooted in "guitar" music the whole concept of Show page falls flat for what I'd expect from live performance features. I don't think I ever opened the Show page once. Not to mention it pisses me off no end that when I set scaling on my laptop to 125%, the GUI will f**king prioritize to keep the useless Show and Project buttons but will hide some of the tools and half of the automation box?! W.T.F.SLiC wrote: Tue Jun 29, 2021 10:02 pmS1 was much cleaner and simpler…it just did the stuff I was interested in well. Now however I am not sure on its direction, who is it aimed it?

The worst thing is the above sounds like every other DAW on the planet, too. They all added a half-assed feature or two and instead of properly polishing it, moved on to something else, usually something noone was asking forSLiC wrote: Wed Jun 30, 2021 6:06 am Personally i just think S1 adding a Show Page is a bit like Ableton Live adding score edit…it is at best misdirected resources in my opinion, they had work left to do with recording and editing audio and midi, that is why I bought and use S1 and I don’t remember ever seeing a single user request for a Show Page.

How would that work? If it's SysEx, then you can do it anyway (assuming S1 supports SysEx).trusampler wrote: Tue Jun 29, 2021 6:39 pmYawn.. Still no real midi updates, no option to save external instrument patches or patch names for external synths
Why would you need to? I don't know what you'd use the browser anyway, there are drop-down menus everywhere that are much easier.no updates made to the browser ,still can't tag our content.
What do you think they could improve in the DAW side of it? It already seems to have way more features than anyone could possibly need and the workflow is mostly very good.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Tue Jun 29, 2021 7:23 pmI personally wish they'd stop adding these half-assed "pages" no one's asking for (show page, project page) and focus more resources and the DAW aspects, but I get why they do it.
It can't just be about keeping your current users happy, you have to try and find new users so you can afford to keep development going. If it wasn't for the Show Page, I would never even have looked at Studio One. Turns out it isn't what I wanted it to be but at least it got me to install and demo S1, which led to me buying it. I do like the idea of the Project Page, though, keeping the whole process in one file.SLiC wrote: Wed Jun 30, 2021 6:06 amI don’t remember ever seeing a single user request for a Show Page.
Why do you guys need a reason to install an update? There is nothing in 5.3 for me but, equally, it doesn't seem like it will make anything worse so why wouldn't I install it?

I’m not the audience, but articulations and notes etc., chords for some, factor large.THE INTRANCER wrote: Wed Jun 30, 2021 1:50 amWhat are they then ? Is there a video clip timeline that other DAWs have like Cakewalk By Bandlab and Cubase have ? The version 4 cycle was the most fun for dance music producers I think... Version 5 seems out of touch and all rather lost in who they are aiming at.
Here's version 3.3 for comparison.

Yes, I typically need 3 or 4 edits until I get rid of all the typos...
Jesus... That´s a lot of work...

Drag and drop chords doesn't help my workflow as I'd already got a system which was to just create a track of triads, bass notes, seventh, ninth* etc in the rhythm, timing and duration I want the notes to have and the track set to parallel - so the chords defined in the S1 chord track get applied - and then record the midi output from that track to another track - you end up with chord variations in the right rhythm. You could do that since v4.
* I'd normally just use notes from C major e.g. C-E-G etc.

To my knowledge, Studio One still doesn't support nor sysex,Nrpn's,rpns and hardly midi for that matter, and these have been actual long time requests, as well as a tagging user content, better browser, better gui, better color options, there's an entire list of user requests for years, yet we got show page in v5, which never was even requested, guess it's trendy?

I was thinking the same thing as OP!
I did a mix in v4 and it sounded good.. real good.
Of course I used the CTC-1 but I think that's a good reason it sounds good.
that attention to detail in the mixer is definitely wants needed.

There are definitely a few QOL bits and some useful stuff (although its very niche perhaps) it just seems like a small update, probably as it is so niche that it doesn't impact many people
That said, lots of bug fixes so I guess it is better to have 5.3, 5.4, 5.5 etc than hold it all back for a bigger 5.5 release...
