(even if I have to admit that I have fast forwarded a little.) - man, my time is "tight"...
that "raise of harmony" at 18:00 is fantastic (for me it screams: i want a BEAT now...). one day i will cut out the things i like most - and then i will programm a crazy beat to it. (if i am allowed...)
thanks tom :)
yeah feel free to cut n dice it.

no worries on fast forwarding either, not everyone will have 28 mins to spare :hihi:
That's always a risk with longer ambient works, no? I like to troll my listeners every once in a while by posting an exceedingly short bit. You're not going to get very many partial listens on an eight second work.
it's only a risk if it matters to you.
i share, because ive been asked to, i do it (for about 5 or 6 hours on a good day) to keep me busy and entertained.

tend to be long because i forget to press stop, not because i intend to make long pieces

may i suggest a huge joint? ;)

(it's tape loops, albeit digital, so you probably heard all the elements :hihi: )
Cannabis doesn't change any of that, if anything I'm more inclined to focus. Unless I'm sleepy.
I did perceive a fair bit of repetition by this juncture, yeah.

there is a thread in Instruments with swarming and murmuration in the title, I think instrument is in the thread title.
we speculated on what would be the right tools to realize that concept

getting used to the newer toys now, still need to visit that "swarm/murmurations" idea, with these particular modules i reckon i can do something pretty interesting in that regard 8)
I ain't started on it either
Hmmm, this is something of interest to me. Wasn't there a thread about this a bit ago? Or a track titled that, or something?
rick (rachmiel) started a thread in instruments about how it might be achieved :tu:
some interesting discussion and some less interesting interruptions
Thanks, I thought I had seen it recently. Will revisit. 8)

I just mean listeners fast forwarding. Regardless of the reasons for creating a long work, the longer it is, the greater the likelihood that someone's going to tune out. I was really just saying that it is to be expected with longer works, so it's no big deal.

This is especially true when you share in a forum where your listeners are drawn from a more general population, e.g., KVR.

yup, to be expected :)

ChameleonMusic wrote: Tue Jul 06, 2021 10:08 am Very effective!

I only intended to listen to a little sample and then suddenly realized I was 12 minutes in already so just 'went with it'! :)

Just me thinking out loud...is there any way to start one of these soundscapes all 'narrow / flat / confined' and let it slowly 'grow / widen / deepen'?

Does that even make sense?
often, they do start out like that.
you'd just have to be there before all the loops (buffers) fill with audio
it's one (stereo) module, playing through a bunch of samples...
in to matrix mixers, which then feeds some fx chains and feedback loops.

the single input, then moves through 4 outputs...
so you get a snippet in each buffer, which may then repeat up to 11 mins (iirc) later depending which output, and repeat, till it becomes soup.

first 20 mins is as much empty space as it is audio sometimes

the trick is, knowing when to cut your 20 mins or so to share from, to give the listeners the "best" bits :hihi:

hope that makes sense? does to me, but see the reply i just gave to jan
Thanks for the info...Yes, that made sense...saw the reply to Jan as well!

next time, or some time, ill try to remember to get a cut early on.
although, sometimes it really does sound like i havent got a clue what im doing  just little bleeps or snips of a piano, then silence....
glitched bird....

i do wonder sometimes what my neighbours think before it all coalesces in to something substantial :hihi:
especially if its one of my "plunderphonics" which i dont release, as its all samples of actual things, music/tv/film and such. must sound like im just scanning through channels on tv all night :o

I used to do that as a lad - scanning back and forth through all four channels looking for tits and fanny that I'd record onto VHS. My dank clip tapes were legendary. I've since overdubbed ambient drones, and whatnotery, they now resemble arty Chris Marker films...
eh?

Found it, thanks. Realized after I scrolled through half a dozen pages, that I had it bookmarked, and I posted in it also. :dog:

im assuming lots of copies of the swimming scene from walkabout, maybe the odd friday the 13th and a lot of south bank show clips before channel 4 started
was hard to see boobs and fanny back then :(

I'm on my second listen now. I particularly enjoyed the first 10 minutes or so. In fact, you could say I was bowled over.

Stirring soup.

Opus bonum instructus :)

Very interesting..

Some tasty Metal Machine Music.

Lou Reed could take a lesson from you.
