Unable to activate mdrummer

I'm on a mac running catalina with ableton live 11. I've downloaded the license file, but Mdrummer won't recognize it. I've tried hitting the activate button and navigating to the downloads directory where the MDrummer.mlf file is, and it doesn't see it there. I've also tried dragging the license file onto the open plugin window, no joy. What am I doing wrong?
