Can't sell T1 (should the upgrade cost be too high thats way you would want to sell it) - Not because it’s illegal – but because the T1 market value is now – zero

looks like it's a valid deal. maybe a marketing thang hoping users will upgrade to version 2.

Oh come on Spe3D, you read the same thread as everyone else where beno told us all what the upgrade policy was going to be. That's not a valid argument and you know it.

No it isn't. Your copy of Tracktion is worth $80 or thereabouts off the price of T2. Sell it to someone for $40 and they can get T2 for $40 less than retail, whilst you get a reasonable return on old second hand software.

I dunno what you expect to get, but life doesn't usually treat us much fairer than that.

Sorry! Valley, how much is the upgrade? - I missed that post, please tell me how much more I would need to pay for T2? if the post is there - prove my fears wrong - please.

Maybe it would have been a cool marketing tool, had Mackie informed the existing userbase of all the facts – like when T2 is coming out? How much is it going to cost the new user? How much does it cost the existing paid user? What the rebate would mean to the existing user in terms of how much to pay for T2?

Before giving T1 away - and leaving – speculation - in its wake, for vocal users like me.

The price of T2 AFAIK has not been set. The upgrade cost according to a post by beno a few months back will be the difference between the price of T1 and the price of T2.

IE if T2 costs $150 (I'm guessing $140, many here believe it'll be $120/$130), but we'll go with a round number) the upgrade will be $70.

However, beno also said, IIRC, that it'll actually be a little less the the difference, so probably 5 bucks less. In our case call that $65.

So an NFR'er will likely end up paying the full $150 whereas you could have T2 for $65. That's what your T1 is currently worth AIUI.

I'm a paid-up T1 owner too, and I'm not the least bit upset by Mackie's move. Quite the opposite, actually - I'm thrilled, and not because I need another license;

If this move results in Mackie picking up a significant number of new paying Tracktion customers (ie, people who get hooked on the free T1 and ultimately pay for T2), then we all win - the bigger the (paid) userbase, the more effort (read: money) Mackie will put into future development.

Or is that just too much common sense for a Monday morning? :roll:
