Yes, I actually remembered that you gave such an example when I had written the post due to a sense of deja-vu. However, I just nailed mine and allow myself to feel a little competent (self-reinforcement). It was no problem. Here theory comes handy. I knew what to do, but not how it would sound. Good to have a little pocket-Jeppesen/Palestrina at hand when it comes to separating melodies within a mode and give them individuality. We are dealing with florid counterpoint (5th species), all four species together, but with different emphasis: If one melody rely heavily on 8ths, you go 16th or 4ths with the other. You can use suspensions to avoid first species as much as possible (note against note), e.g. when one melody rests on a longer note, move the other, and vice versa. Use contrary motions as much as possible and avoid the direct/parallel/similar motions ditto. Palestrina I am not, but steal a few tricks from the masters, I can However, whole question was whether I could come up with a main melody I like, and I got one in ToH style using bagpipe samples. Will be our next release, where it can be demonstrated in practise.jancivil wrote: ↑Wed Aug 04, 2021 10:21 pm I can relate. I did one recently that was to make sense of a hot mess, knowing it was a sort of misshapen blob but as a sort a dynamic in time was 'good enough' for something and it does kind of glue it all together in the background, which was the supposition. So I just committed to it, and did the thing. and these monstrosities do have pulse and time latent in there.
Oh-oh, here we go againthe thing I'm working on now is not pretty
