Reduce Available/Installed M Plugins

Hi
I'm really getting into the Melda plugins and having a lot of fun with them. One thing that I'm finding is that with so many of them - I'm sometimes a bit overwhelmed by by choice.
So far, I have 80 installed. I'm wondering about which are 'redundant' due to having 'better' options available. E.g. do I need Mcompressor if I have MDynamics? Is Mequaliser still useful if I have MDynamicEQ?
Ideally I'd like as small a list as possible.
Any advice much appreciated.
Best wishes

You can choose to install the ones you want. If I recall you highlight the ones you want in the installer.
You are the only one that can decide if you need the different flavors of similar tools. However they made different tools for different purposes.
Welcome to the land of overwhelming choices, that is kind of what KVR is all about.
I'd suggest it's the same with all plugins, do I need 10 different EQ and channel strips?
Perhaps, but I've found my favorites. Who knows you might find non-melda plugins do the job as well or better.
Good luck,
Dirk

Hi Dirk
Many thanks for your response. I guess what I'm really wondering is whether some really become totally 'feature' redundant if you purchase a 'better' version.
So, if I have Mcompressor and MDynamics - does Mcompressor do anything that MDynamics can't do (even if that is use less CPU).
If I have MComb and MCombMB - is there any point in keeping MComb installed - or does MCombMB have everything that MComb has and more? Same with MDynamicEQ and MAutoDynamicEQ ... and so on ...

Usually, the most powerful version can do everything the cheaper options can. But that also means the interface is more cluttered.
If I don't need a dynamic EQ, for example, I still prefer MEqualizer over MAutoDynamicEQ, even though MADEQ can do the job just as well. I also prefer using the non-MB version if I only use a single band.
But that's just a matter of personal preference. Some people use MADEQ for everything.
Unfortunately, there's no easy way to install only the most powerful version, so you'd have to select/deselect everything manually in the installer.

Which ones do you own or are you just demoing them now? I own the creative bundle and a few others and I could make a short list for you of the ones I most often use but if you are installing all of them in demo mode it is too big a task for me to tackle.

Hi, many thanks for the responses.
I have the McreativeFXbundle, Freefxbundle (paid), MdynamicEq, MautodynamicEq, MTurbocompLE, MStereogenerator, MStereoprocessor, Mautovolume.
Please don't go to too much trouble listing them all - just a few pointers would be great.

Based on that, I would say uninstall all non-MB versions for plugins that end in MB. Also MDynamicEQ, MConvolutionEZ.
MAutoDynamicEQ can do everything MFilter does, but you might want to keep it for the presets.

I did what Held said. If there's an MB version, I initialize that to have just one band. Boom - manageable plugin folder with no downside.

Well, yeah, if I'd restart time
, I'd remove quite a few, but lots are there for "free" purposes. So:
- If there's MB version, then indeed just install that one. Though, note that the nonMB version may be slightly more efficient (compared to MB with a single band). But the difference should be tiny.
- EQs are the biggest problem - while the techs has been coming up, more stuff has been released and not there's a bit too many. I personally use MAutoDynamicEQ and MFreeformEq. And if you need linear phase parametric one, use MAutoEqualizer.
- Dynamics - I'd go with MTurboComp, MDynamics, MLimiterX and MLimiterMB (for EDM, metal...).
