Probably the weirdest of all is SonicPi where the music is made by you live coding.
Coding, yes that's programming - typing structured text.

Didn't Arturia make a DAW in their early years? Somebody remember the name?

I don’t really consider it “strange” but Metro’s always been a bit of a sleeper. I think maybe because Twelve Tone owned the distribution rights for years and let is die and the developer had to wrangle the rights back and revive it. I think he’s still a member here if he’d like to chime in.
