FR: add delay to LFO Modulators

The ADSR envelope section of a Modulator has an adjustable delay. Can we also get a delay for the LFO/normal modulators? Maybe add it as an option in the midi retrigger section? This would greatly make the modulators more consistant. You would be able to finally sync the delay of an ADSR and LFO modulator.

Hmmm, I don't follow, LFO is well an LFO, delay doesn't seem to make sense to me (in fact, delay to what
).

I think they mean a delay before the LFO will start modulating. This could be done by modulating the LFOs level with and envelope, and setting the delay on the envelope.

Sorry, I should have clarified, a delay for a normal LFO doesn't make sense since it's free running. But when the LFO is set to retrigger mode via MIDI, a delay would make sense. A delay that happens between the midi input and the triggering of the LFO. It would help when syncing the delay times between a ADSR envelope, a retriggered LFO and the latency report tool found in MXXX and MSF.

Thanks for the hint but it doesn't help in this case since I would like to use the one shot retriggering options which are not present in the tremolo options.Faiky wrote: Fri Aug 06, 2021 7:49 am Hi SeeingInMidi,
do you know the tremolo function in the ADSR envelope? Maybe you can use this for your case. Maybe.
Cheers

I'm actually surprised this feature isn't already there ... the Melda modulator is otherwise the most complete of anything like it I've ever seen. I guess I never needed either delay or fade-in on an LFO in Melda land (there is fade-in on the envelope tremolo).MeldaProduction wrote: Thu Aug 05, 2021 2:09 pm Hmmm, I don't follow, LFO is well an LFO, delay doesn't seem to make sense to me (in fact, delay to what).
I've always thought an LFO implementation was not complete unless it supported both delay (pause before fade-in phase begins) and fade-in as well. A lot of LFO implementations do offer fade-in, but only the best offer both delay and fade-in.

Agreed, but that's a lot more work than should be needed, IMO. Like I said, the really complete LFO implementations offer that control up front as an LFO parameter.Faiky wrote: Tue Aug 10, 2021 8:55 am It's possible like jmg8 said. You can also change the phase if necessary

Hopefully Melda sees this and adds a simple delay option.

But what modulators are you talking about? Something tells me that it's about per-voice MSF modulators, but honestly no idea...

Triggered LFOs, specifically. Non-per-voice LFOs can be trigger-activated, can they not (don't have time to check the documentation)? But, yes, especially per-voice (note-triggered) LFOs.MeldaProduction wrote: Sun Aug 15, 2021 5:30 pm But what modulators are you talking about? Sorry if I wasn't clear enough. Both per-voice MSF modulators and your standard LFO modulators which are found in the MSF effects section, in MXXX and in every other melda fx plugin. Hopefully this can be added since envelopes have it.MeldaProduction wrote: Sun Aug 15, 2021 5:30 pm But what modulators are you talking about? Ok, so with per-voice LFOs I get it, though it seems easy enough to just use an envelope with the level, or isn't it?
But with global mods it just doesn't make any sense to me. These are working constantly...

Using the envelope method does not provide the same results.MeldaProduction wrote: Mon Aug 16, 2021 4:21 pm Ok, so with per-voice LFOs I get it, though it seems easy enough to just use an envelope with the level, or isn't it?

For the global mods, like the users above mentioned, the delay would only be a provided option when midi trigger is enabled.
When I think about it, the delay would also help us manually deal with syncing midi triggered LFOs in complex MXXX patches that have latency.
