It refuses description, allowing only the vague approach of adjectives: dark, light, raw, angelic. Who or what is making these noises? Where are they coming from and what do they point to? What kind of entity can leave such a troubling sonic remnant?

You could do it with any gate and some complex DAW routing: send an inverted-polarity copy of the gate output to the same bus as a copy of the gate input. When they mix you'll be left with the "flip" signal.

In REAPER you could do it all on one channel with two extra insert plugins. Doesn't seem that bad for an occasional special effect.
