LoveEnigma18 wrote: Thu Aug 12, 2021 12:49 pm ASHLIGHT sounds great and probably the best for me so far since Komplete 13. $99 price is tempting as a K13UCE owner, especially since it will be the lowest price to get it separately even during the Thanksgiving/Cyber sale (50% off the full price of $199). Need to allow the initial impulse to decay though.
I assume it'll be part of KU14 though, no? I think I'm okay with waiting..
Of course, it will be. But K14(U) will be released 1 year or so from now and for 50% off update/upgrade we need to wait another year, so it will a two-year wait. Long wait, no? :)

The best value is indeed in waiting every 2 years from the time you bought an update/upgrade at 50% to upgrade to the next version of Komplete at 50% off. But some instruments are so good you just can't wait. If you buy now, you can always resell later to recoup some money. I really like their system.

Good points, good points. Although I'm expecting to catch a discounted upgrade from U to UCE when K14 rolls out like last year. ASHLIGHT does seem to be pretty nice though.

I actually picked up a few of them for $3-4 each a while ago, but for some reason they didn't really click with me. I don't have them installed currently, but I should give it another go.

Ashlight is a great sounding instrument. The woman that scored Chernobyl could have used this alone. Certainly worth buying now for anyone with a scoring project pending. More scores are going in this direction vs traditional orchestral productions

Apart from the sounds, what's the difference between Ashlight and the two existing Light instruments? Aren't they basically the same tech, so I could just import samples that are like Ashlight?

And I've seen that some existing owners aren't getting discounts - is there a Charge for the Light brigade?

This seems to be the first one with MPE support.
There may be other differences but I haven't looked in detail.

more the case that this exists because her score for Chernobyl became such a hit

Yeah, but I am also looking at it from non-scoring/cinematic viewpoint. For use in songs. I think it definitely seems to be intended for dark techno stuff. But I am thinking further regarding possible usage in conventional songs but with a twist.

LoveEnigma18 wrote: Thu Aug 12, 2021 12:45 pm Native Instruments is back with ASHLIGHT, completing THE LIGHT TRILOGY that includes STRAYLIGHT and PHARLIGHT.

Special time-limited offers: $149 intro price ($199 regular). $99 if you own both previous instruments separately or have Komplete 13 Ultimate / Collector's Edition.
Caveat Emptor! Several K13U owners have confirmed they purchased but couldn't register the $99 upgrade without individual serial numbers for Straylight & Pharlight.

Update: NI has apparently acknowledged this is an error and will be rectified in a day or two.
Yeah, thanks for pointing it out. In all honestly, I just assumed it would work and did not check the Komplete offer myself, because that's how it has always been. So, when I saw on Facebook after posting here I was surprised, but did not comeback to mention it here.

The problem is in their upgrade system, not the serial number registration after purchase. Normally, if you are logged in and have K13U/K13UCE, it will automatically pick it up and show you the upgrade and mention the reason below before you add to the cart. This time they specifically only mentioned "for owners of STRAYLIGHT and PHARLIGHT" on the add to cart page.

EDIT: Noticed that the system picks up my K13UCE for showing THE LIGHT TRILOGY BUNDLE upgrade price of $199, but it does not make sense since only ASHLIGHT is missing.

Glad it will be fixed though. Else it would have been their loss. :)

Indeed.

I was thinking along the same lines as Double Tap mentioned, which is to import samples in STRAYLIGHT and PHARLIGHT, because the tech is the same for most (if not all) part, but they say that it is "truly unique sample library", as usual.

Definitely worth experimenting SL/PL with our samples before jumping on AL. $99 seems a bit of a stretch considering the usage. It would have sealed the deal if they allowed to use the $25 e-voucher.

That said, I do like the GUI and browser of LIGHT TRILOGY instruments and the fact that are relatively smaller in size. Of course, it is not a surprise considering these are basically granular synths, but saying it because it helps me to avoid thinking about a HDD/SDD purchase. ;)

Post

Thanks Agharta. I suppose there's value in MPE even without having a controller because you can automate the expression envelopes. And the sample library is useful in itself. Not sure my GAS is strong enough to justify it though - it is indeed a bit of a stretch at $99.

I know this is NO CHAT.. but..

You can find individual serial numbers for all you products even if they come with Komplete inside Native Access. Not sure if registering this requires you to enter serial numbers or it checks automatically what is available in your account.
FYIP, the serial numbers from NA won't work. The system indeed automatically checks based on your account, so the upgrade/update serial number is given accordingly after the purchase.

Got my Anthology Strings today by spending 77$ on 8dio sales... a bit of surprise, but definitely can find a use for it. :D
I bet that made you smile, did 8dio put the freebie in your account or did you receive an email?

Thanks.
I got both the library in an account (made me panic-check, if by accident I spent way more than I planned) and an email about freebie.
Thanks..... there's a new freebie up now. https://8dio.com/2021/08/02/10th-anniversary-sale/

Does anybody know if kiloHearts voucher can be used for purchasing presets?
