Hi. Trying out the demo. I want to make Mick Gordon style generative feedback so I'm trying the modular feedback delay module (since Mux doesn't allow feedback loops in a patch).

But in the patch in the screenshot:
1) Why doesn't the pitch endlessly change since there is a pitch shifter in there? It just goes up a bit then stops
2) How do I modulate the pitch in the pitch shifter module? I can't find a way to input modulation data or link it to a cc controller.

I can do the bit about the automation... It's in the Reaper Track controls -- not at all obvious:

Then you automate the MetaParameters in the track and edit them inside the MUX. If what you want isn't exposed via the MPs, you need to go in and expose it up through each layer.

You can also modulate the pitch inside MUX. You do this by connecting a parameter event generator to the pitch shifter module, then set it to down/up parameter and now you can modulate the parameter event generator which will modulate the pitch shifter.

Thanks, but neither of these responses use the modular feedback delay inner modules. Your answers don't apply to my question.

I came up with something like this (see screenshot). If this still does not do what you are trying to achieve I want you to describe what kind of effect do you exactly want so I may try to help you.

Ok, thanks, I see you put a pitchshifter inside a modular feedback delay like I have - but how are you automating it? I can't see any envelope automation data in your DAW routed to the pitchshifter, nor any of parameters in the main module connected to the pitchshifter in the inner, delay, module. It's still disconnected from the main patch, except that it receives audio.

How about this? It's the same thing that's above but in here I got rid of the LFO, instead I attached parameter 'value' to the meta parameter of the main MUX. Now it pops up in the automation menu in Reaper. However when I tried to move the knob the automation was not smooth and if you are looking for a smooth transition I cannot help right now but I will continue to investigate.

Ohh I see, the modular feedback delay widget has one event port coming in, to which you can attach things, and then all the submodules receive the same data. Ok, at least that gives me one parameter I can modulate. It's a pity it can't take more though.

You can put a whole MUX instance inside modular feedback delay, and then put more effects inside that MUX.

Yeah, but it's still separate from the outside world - there is sadly no way to control more than one parameter inside a feedback module from outside. I just wish the author would allow feedback loops like Reaktor does. Anyway thanks.

I'm not sure if I understand you correctly, but if you were to put MUX inside modular feedback delay, then put some effects inside it like pitch shifter, distortion, chorus or whatever would you like to, you would then have the option to control the parameters of said effects from the main MUX meta parameters and all of them would pop up in Reaper's automation menu.

You see my screen shot? Every single one of the MP x values is an automation input. You can attach it internally to whatever you like. Like I said, you just need to connect it up.

Make a MIDI mapping on the instance of Modular Feedback Delay (MFD) itself. You can drill down to parameters on modules that are within a MUX which, in turn, is the DSP Module of MFD. Here's a demonstration:

  • There's an LFO targeting the Left & Right "Pitch Amount".
