The code is GPLd. Its not actually legitimate to add additional clauses like 'not free for commercial usage' on top of the GPL license.
An idiot on Set Theory:
"In some cases there is an object called red that contains everything that is red. In much the same way a pot is a plate."

That's what I thought when I read that it can't be used commercially yesterday...whyterabbyt wrote: Fri Aug 27, 2021 8:42 am The code is GPLd. Its not actually legitimate to add additional clauses like 'not free for commercial usage' on top of the GPL license.
Apart from it being a ridiculous restriction, of course. What if, after years of being a hobbyist, you want to release a few older tracks of yours on a streaming site, or similar, just to find out that you can't, because you used the free OB-Xd for a few sounds...
Frankly, it doesn't really raise my opinion about George and his business. Especially considering that most, if not all of the DSP code in his plugins was made by others.

Agreed.
Just so its clear to anyone else; its absolutely legitimate to sell software that's got anything you included that's was released under the GPL license as long as you make the source code available, including your own changes and additions which much be also licensed under the GPL.
However its not legitimate to take GPL'd code, compile it, then add new additional restrictions to its use on top of the GPL. Hence under the terms of the GPL the free version of OBX-D cannot be restricted from being used commercially.
