As noted, yep, it's legit, and a good deal. Also note that the AAS Summer Sale is going on, so you could upgrade the included Sessiom instruments (Ultra Analog, Lounge Lizard, Strum) to the full versions for $49 apiece direct from AAS. Those are normally $199 apiece ($99 on sale) so that's a nice savings.Double Tap wrote: Sun Aug 29, 2021 1:23 pm Sorry to interrupt the voucher chat, but there's an AAS deal on Mashable that popped up in the no chat thread that looks superficially quite good. But it's on Mashable, which is a bit weird. Why is an internet viral news site offering deep discounts on AAS sound packs?

biggest discount on those I’ve seen definitely.SHall1000 wrote: Sun Aug 29, 2021 10:00 pm Just noticed Behringer Wasp hardware is £169 on Amazon UK. Is this the least popular of the Behringer clones to be so cheap?

It's all high-quality. Lounge Lizard is still arguably the best Rhodes/Wurly plugin on the market, given how deeply tweakable it is, and it sounds great.Double Tap wrote: Sun Aug 29, 2021 11:45 pm ThanksI might well do that. Chromaphone is very good so I imagine their other stuff is good too.
To my ears, at least, a lot of their other stuff is kind of off the deep end of sound design wonkiness - which is great if that's what you're looking for! All of their plugins can produce sounds that are extremely weird and yet somehow still feel kind of "real", or at least "organic". But it's a little hard to get straightforward sounds out of them. Ultra Analog can do some really neat stuff but I'm not sure I'd want it to be my only virtual analog synth; if you just need a big Tom Sawyer riff I think you'll work harder to get it from Ultra Analog than, say, something from Arturia or U-he.
Strum is the ugly sibling, though. I haven't heard any demos or anything from it that doesn't just sound horribly plasticky, so I'd definitely give that a miss.

Yeah, it could be useful if it output midi and you could get it to drive better sounding plugins or libraries like Orange Tree Samples, but don’t think I’ve used it once on anything. Guess at a push could use Ableton’s harmony audio to midi feature.Ceej wrote: Mon Aug 30, 2021 12:04 am Strum is the ugly sibling, though. One of the least popular but one of their best, IMO. It has loads of character and can make a lot of interesting modular-type sounds with no effort.SHall1000 wrote: Sun Aug 29, 2021 10:00 pm Just noticed Behringer Wasp hardware is £169 on Amazon UK. Try as many demos as you can especially Lounge Lizard. Its the Rhoads Emulation that time forgot. Its been around since 2000 so 21 years of everyone else getting better.I'm sure the elect piano in the free Komplete Start bundle is 100% better.I have LL ,Ultra Analog and Strum and never use themDouble Tap wrote: Sun Aug 29, 2021 11:45 pmThanksCeej wrote: Sun Aug 29, 2021 8:59 pmAs noted, yep, it's legit, and a good deal. LL4 is a modeler and a far better instrument for players than Komplete's entry level sample version. Depending on your approach to your music, either can be your favorite. I don't use either anymore in favor of Pianoteq now. But I do think about rebuying LL4 because it has its own definite personality of bark and bite.Kurdish Mayfield wrote: Mon Aug 30, 2021 8:45 amTry as many demos as you can especially Lounge Lizard. Totally subjective, but I've always found the NI Komplete electrics to be weak and lacking as an instrument by itself. (I do own it, but never waste any time trying to use it anymore.)
YMMV

iirc, Chris joss used the built in ableton electric pianos (basically _older_ version of LL) for at least his first few albums (seen in some old videos), it’s prominent and it sounds great….. but I have never played a real one…

I owned two real ones for about two decades, the first suitcase and the first stage that Fender/Rhodes made.chroma wrote: Mon Aug 30, 2021 5:18 pm iirc, Chris joss used the built in ableton electric pianos (basically _older_ version of LL) for at least his first few albums (seen in some old videos), it’s prominent and it sounds great….. but I have never played a real one…
Love the Pianoteq electrics and I just bought the Lounge Lizard again.

I'm considering this too - I adore Pianoteq for acoustic pianos and I have the Electrics pack, but I'm not sure it's quite the best for really nailing EP sounds. Horses for courses. I've got Lounge Lizard Session and I'm trying to convince myself that's enough... I really don't use EP sounds that much...BBFG# wrote: Mon Aug 30, 2021 9:54 pm Love the Pianoteq electrics and I just bought the Lounge Lizard again.

Here's my $50 voucher code: taken
If anyone has a $25 one available, I would love to have it! I can't find anything for $36 that I want. Frankly, I would have settled for $39 for something I already have, but I have most of the things that are $49 and under.... So no SPL Hawk's Eye for me.
