No worries! Live is not my main DAW But I like to know what each DAW strong/weak points for my setup.

Would you consider the Suite version good value? I intend to try the full Suite trial but i'm curious what others think, especially about the content other than M4L. Does Ableton consider it its own thing rather than like the Reason Suite (which was a temporary bundle of extra rack devices)?

For me personally - sure!machine_spirit wrote: ↑Wed Sep 08, 2021 2:17 pmWould you consider the Suite version good value? For you? That depends. If you already have a lot of VSTs and your music/workflow doesn't require complex sound effects, MIDI sequencers, elaborate modulators (LFOs, MSEGs, etc.) then perhaps it's not as important and Standard will be enough.
Check how they differ and consider if you already have good replacement for missing devices, as in terms of features they're pretty much on pair:

The M4L MIDI tools and other audio effects are irreplaceable by most VST including the fact of being so well integrated in Live.
And you can find so many gems for free which compensate at some level the extra cash for the suite.
Pigments - Diva - Tal U-No-LX - Tal Sampler

^^^ I've bought standard + max instead of the (499 instead of 599) suite so that's also an option, I've never used sampler, simpler is enough for me

^^
Do you get Racks in standard? I use instrument & drum racks all the time. Iirc there are several other extra fx and instruments in suite.

But you're missing out on a lot of instruments, FX and audio content!
And I imagine the integration with Max isn't as smooth as it is with M4L?
All of that is IMO worth way more than $100

^^^ it's M4L just scroll down to the Max for Live (second row) https://www.ableton.com/en/shop/ max ... 149EUR, dunno depend on how many VSTs do you have already, I'm just saying worth checking the mentioned https://www.ableton.com/en/live/compare-editions/ and standard+max also an option
ps. 100 EUR is a half https://parawave-audio.com/rapid_synth (I use the fx only version of it constantly ... )

Suite is well worth it for me. £370 all in - free Live Lite from Splice, then a discounted upgrade path. I think it was 30pc off during the pre-BF sale last year. You can get a 20pc discount at the moment from the Live Producers Online podcast - I can't remember the code but it's in the first couple of minutes of the latest episode.
It's not so much the sounds as the extra effects and instruments which do get used. And the M4L devices are constantly entertaining and thought provoking.

Live Beta 11.0.10b3 is released
Bugfixes:
Fixed a crash that occurred if all return/delay tracks were deleted and then a track containing a take lane was duplicated and moved. Live would crash if undo was used twice after duplicating and moving the track.
Fixed a crash that occurred when deleting a track while zooming in/out of Arrangement View using a trackpad pinch gesture.
The Back to Arrangement button now appears as expected in Group Tracks.
Fixed a crash that occurred when opening a Live Set that contained a plug-in with sidechain automation/modulation that could not be loaded.
Fixed a bug that caused MIDI notes in a selected area to get deleted even if the notes themselves were not selected when pressing Delete.
The Library.cfg file in a shared Preferences folder now gets copied as expected when installing Live in a multi-user environment.
Fixed a crash that occurred in certain scenarios if two instances of Live were running at the same time.
Fixed a crash that occurred when pressing the [Space] or [Tab] key after clicking on Track Status Display in Session View if a clip in Arrangement View was being played.
Improved shared Library folder setup when installing Live in multi-user environments.
Selecting and launching multiple clips across a scene using the [Enter] key now works as expected.
