Let's just stop with the silly "but it's an emulation" hysteria. Obsession got more mod slots. AnX, you beta for Synapse, did you ask Richard do undo the changes because it turned Obsession into something completely different? Should U-he rip out the existing mod slots and tweaks pages because it's meant to be a strict prophet emu? No one's asking for a Moog ladder filter and third oscillator with wavetables. And Urs himself literally just said they're open to most of the things being suggested.
I don't think a few more mod slots, polyphonic glide, and extended voice offset controls would make this not a Prophet emulation. And if we want it to be strict vintage Prophet-5 emulation, then the mod slots would need to go, the velocity for amp/vcf, the tweaks page, preset browser, per voice distortion, effects, DAW recall, etc. Heck, even Dave Smith himself added velocity to amp/vcf, aftertouch, poly unison, strack/split, and more to his new Rev 4. It's still a Prophet.
Every software emulation of vintage hardware extends the capabilities of the originals in some way. And it's the sound and core feature set that makes this a Prophet. The little bells and whistles that expand on that are the icing on the cake. That's all.

Cool ya jets sunshine, I was just referring to urs list of 2000 things..... if he (or any dev) implemented every user request, it would move far away from its main selling point, an accurate emulation. So you can't blame a dev if they want to stay close.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Fri Sep 10, 2021 2:12 pm Let's just stop with the silly "but it's an emulation" hysteria. Obsession got more mod slots. No worries, the backlog of Repro specifically contains only 95 open tickets. Most tickets relate to our main framework and UI toolkit. In a good week we close 20 tickets and get only 5-10 new ones. There aren't many good weeks. Most weeks we create more tickets than we can close. This is how this works.
On a positive note, roughly three quarters of all tickets are YAGNI or something we call "future or never".

I’d never say no to a few more mod slots, envelopes and LFOs, but I also don’t think “synthesis playground” when I think RePro. I’d much rather see the development time go into Zebra 3, which at its heart is a synthesis playground. You don’t walk into a steakhouse and wonder why they don’t have lamb vindaloo on the menu, or go into an Indian restaurant and expect to see a Kobe steak.

Same here... plus since Bitwig updated the Selector devices, I can quickly use multiple instances and Bitwig modulation to add additional per voice modulation. Whenever u-he gets to it is fine with me. RePro plus Bitwig is pretty freakin awesome!zerocrossing wrote: Fri Sep 10, 2021 3:32 pm I’d never say no to a few more mod slots, envelopes and LFOs, but I also don’t think “synthesis playground” when I think RePro.
