I agree. Both of those are ideal for breaking down into modules, and there's plenty of room to improve on the existing emulations.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Fri Sep 10, 2021 1:21 am An MS-20 would totally fit into the concept of Modular. Would be a very interesting choice for them to model that one and break out the component pieces into Modular. Same for an Arp 2600. I know there are other versions of those out there between Korg and Arturia, but I would really like to see Softube's take on those.

Modern synth now, please.

Why? There are so much quality modern synths still available. Also synths with modern features and a more analog sound, like Cypher2, or maybe Massive X.

A big part of the sound is the expressiveness added by the controllers. The ribbon, the foot controls and the poly AT. Pair the Arturia CS80 with a couple of expression pedals and the Hydrasynth as a controller with its ribbon and poly AT and you’d be happier , perhaps not satisfied but happier.Arashi wrote: Fri Sep 10, 2021 12:47 amThat would be amazing. The existing CS-80 emulations (Arturia and Memorymoon) are both mediocre at best. I can't make either one of them sound like this (they can sort of superficially imitate it, but it's a lifeless façade with no depth or magic). Deckard's Dream doesn't really do it for me either (it's only "inspired by" the CS-80; it has totally different components that just don't nail the sound).Rastkovic wrote: Thu Sep 09, 2021 9:33 pm But it would be also okay for me, if the next release is an accurate software version of the Yamaha CS60/CS80.![]()

What's wrong with the GMedia impOSCar2?Rastkovic wrote: Thu Sep 09, 2021 9:33 pm A proper Korg MS20 emulation, but also an OSC OSCar or EDP Wasp would be nice.
Personally I'd like to see a Jupiter-4 as no-one seems to want to tackle that one for some reason.

Sh101, sh02, System100.
yeah they exist from roland themselves but the roland cloud is a PITA and the GUI and features are lacking.

Anything Roland quite frankly. The model 84 / 106 emu is stunning.

Just food for thought on this point: if you, like I do, make very, very extensive use of the cross-modulation between Osc3 > Osc 1 and 2, the differences become super clear, and Model 72 wins by a long mile.Arashi wrote: Fri Sep 10, 2021 1:06 am I don't find Model 72 significantly better than The Legend (IMO they're about on par), but I do enjoy using its components in Modular.

And sync and fm, like The Korg Desktop MS-20.
And yeah a Softube MS-20 would actually make me put up with ilok. The Korg software is not great. Diva version not bad but not quite there (though I do like the filter fm and easy duophonic mode with it).
Also, Softube MS-20 would be perfect broken into modules for the modular product. I guess the intellijel filter already has a lot of what makes the MS-20 special though, being a similar filter.

I'd be most interested in another synth that could break out into some nice modules. MS-20 would be pretty nice. But hey, they've been moving forward in time with their emulations, so maybe they'll make like a Korg Prophecy or something and call it the Model 95?

I'd rather see them get back to modelling some actual modular gear

The naming of the two Softube analogs is a bit strange:
Model 72 Synthesizer System
Model 84 Polyphonic Synthesizer
It gives me the impression that they only planned to make one monophonic synth, and one polyphonic synth, rather than a whole series of analog-modeled synths. It would start to get confusing if each product can only be identified by a number and some generic phrase like 'polyphonic synthesizer.' Would the CS-80 be called 'Model 77 Polyphonic Synthesizer?'
However, I suspect that these two synths have been selling quite well during the last year, due to the enduring popularity of the Minimoog and Juno, and the high quality of the emulations. So I'm hopeful that the Softube developers have plans for four (or ten
) more of these. Give Arturia some competition!
