Same goes for vintage synths. But ok. Then, probably, a modern synth with vintage hardware qualities.Rastkovic wrote: Fri Sep 10, 2021 8:56 amWhy? There are so much quality modern synths still available. Also synths with modern features and a more analog sound, like Cypher2, or maybe Massive X.

Oh yes, definitely. Would love to see some Serge stuff, for instance.aMUSEd wrote: Fri Sep 10, 2021 6:21 pm I'd rather see them get back to modelling some actual modular gear

IMHO it doesn't win against Monark regarding crossmod. It's on par. Softube definitely got the DSP quality, though. It's all good.mholloway wrote: Fri Sep 10, 2021 5:40 pmJust food for thought on this point: if you, like I do, make very, very extensive use of the cross-modulation between Osc3 > Osc 1 and 2, the differences become super clear, and Model 72 wins by a long mile.Arashi wrote: Fri Sep 10, 2021 1:06 am I don't find Model 72 significantly better than The Legend (IMO they're about on par), but I do enjoy using its components in Modular.

I'd love to see a Softube Cat, too !SonicDimension wrote: Thu Sep 09, 2021 8:43 pm I hope that Softube will not stop with just these two synths, though. Which ones would you like to see next? I vote for Octave The Cat. That synth has a really nice filter.

What does 'modern' mean for you? More oscillators, more modulation sources, more fm possibilities? I'm just curios.Dark Lights wrote: Fri Sep 10, 2021 7:11 pmSame goes for vintage synths. But ok. Or maybe something like the DSI Prophet X?

Post a patch or two and let me see if I can match them with The Legend.mholloway wrote: Fri Sep 10, 2021 5:40 pm Just food for thought on this point: if you, like I do, make very, very extensive use of the cross-modulation between Osc3 > Osc 1 and 2, the differences become super clear, and Model 72 wins by a long mile.

impOSCar 2 is still great IMO. The UI is kind of old and clunky but it still sounds good.Mr Arkadin wrote: Fri Sep 10, 2021 3:42 pm What's wrong with the GMedia impOSCar2?
Personally I'd like to see a Jupiter-4 as no-one seems to want to tackle that one for some reason.
Looks like Cherry Audio is about to announce a Jupiter-4 emulation next week. (We all know Softube could do it better though.)

I see you are a man of taste.

My wishlist, roughly in order, would be:
PPG Wave (I like Wave 3.V but it is NOT on the same level as Softube stuff)
Hartmann Neuron
FS1R
CS-80
Wavestation
Morpheus
Andromeda
SH-5
TS-10
FIZMO
...Yeah, that's right: almost all digital synths. They don't get enough love!
...but really I JUST WANT TO PLUG THEM INTO MODULAR! Man, I would really love to have a proper PPG oscillator, glitches and all, behind a Korgasmatron or Model 72 filter.
...But it hardly matters what they do: I will certainly buy it. Model 72 and 84 are top of the line.

I can't imagine that Softube do it better. Waldorf have generally a lot of know-how when it comes to digital and analog synthesizers. PPG Wave 3.V VST was programmed by Wolfram Franke and Stefan Stenzel, these are not no-names. And as far I know, also (the godfather of wavetable synthesis) Wolfgang Palm was involved in the project.Introspective wrote: Sat Dec 18, 2021 12:18 pm My wishlist, roughly in order, would be:

For more hardware/recorded-through-a-mixing-desk character, I would add Saturn2 by FabFilter, or maybe Overstayer by Softube to the output signal....

I want their take on a SH101, a Jupiter 4, Jupiter 8 and CS-80.

That's an interesting thought. I think nobody would expect an emulation of a Waldorf Microwave 1/2/XT....Introspective wrote: Sat Dec 18, 2021 12:18 pm...Yeah, that's right: almost all digital synths.
