Any first impressions?

ordered today. It's a good filter but there is an error if you switch the presets, it's skipping next preset everytime.
An other option would be cool, that you can set the modulation to zero, for example with strg, or doubleklick.
A modulation sequncer would also be nice

Post

Thank you for your support, sacer.

Yes, the skipping preset is something related to the framework interaction with certain Hosts (the majority don't have this issue) when using the VST3 plugin format. Over time, DAWs / Hosts seem to assume a correct behavior (with their own updates). The latest Host correcting this was LMMS, if I remember fine (version 1.2).

You can set the mudulation to zero, with a doubleclick. If you look at the left side of the FLT-TL22 unit, by just doubleclicking the 2 "mod amount" knobs (bipolar, indipendently for cutoff and emphasis), you'll set them to 12 o'clock (zero/no modulation).

A 16-step modulation sequencer was introduced in the first alpha build, but it was making the whole rack/workflow too much complex, counterintuitive. So I decided to improve and expand the modulation unit instead. With this mod unit, you can achieve 99% of what you get with the sequencer, without having too much knobs and stuff to deal with.

Apple M1 native?

Post

Hi, it is not native Apple Silicon compatible, but fully run on it using Rosetta 2.

Thanks, does that go for all your plugins?
I own your synth but was under the impression you were dropping mac support.

Post

Yes, it is valid for all current products. Not dropping macOS support, but being fully macOS compliant is something that has to be decided yet, considering Apple's future strategies.

Filtercult is awesome!

Lots of fun mangling sound sources or letting it oscillate with itself.
Just wish there were more possibilities to create rhythmic patterns.

$16.78 at JRR Shop, how are people rating it?

Hey, there is a hint on some sequencer on your latest Twitter-pic. Please tell me that is going to be in FilterCult?!

Edit: My bad, it's the sequencer of LittleOne.

Post

Indeed, that's a "drawing" for LittleOne version 4.x :)

So, why not include a rudimentary step-sequencer in FilterCult? Would be awesome!

Post

It was indeed included in an early prototype (8-step or 16-step, I don't remember).

Then, after an extensive "real-world" usage (prototype), I decided not to include a sequencer because :

- I discovered that about 95% of what you get with a step sequencer (controlling the filter cutoff/emphasis), can be achieved using the multi-waveform tempo-synced LFO unit provided + cutoff/emphasis knobs in real time. This also lead to a more "live" usage of the plugin, and that was considered a central aspect since its early development stages.

- a sequencer would have made the GUI far too chaotic. In order to cover the rest of the cases (5%) if you need a specific filter/emphasis/(any other parameter) pattern of any lenght and shape, then using the Host automation is far simpler and immediate.
