One song I came across that I think uses the JP4 interests me.
The Arp sections, the rest of the song mainly consists of the Prophet5.
A good combo, I hope Cherry Audio nailed it.

This is actually my favourite Numan track, stunning exercise in minimalism. That whole Dance album is full of JP-4 (also previous album Telekon and to a lesser extent the subsequent album I, Assassin). No Prophet 5 though. Just CR-78, JP-4, ARP Odyssey and Yamaha CP30, plus Nash the Slash on violin.

i could be less passionate with my verbiage. but I dont hink it is fair saying something is fuzzy when many people disagree. maybe fuzzy FOR YOU is accurateVortifex wrote: ↑Fri Sep 17, 2021 9:23 amIf that were the case everything would look bad... but it doesn't. Look I know you're always a tad evangelical about Cherry Audio and that's fine, but try to understand that just because you don't have an issue it doesn't mean others don't.
This is how it looks compared to Massive X. On the left, small and fuzzy. On the right, larger, clear and distinct. For me the difference is significant.

FUN! That's the ticket...
Yeah, I'm not at all convinced that Cherry Audio is just reskinning pretty much the same synth engines each time, given how fast these are coming out (I mean, they've put out about the same number of synths in a couple of years as U-he has done in about 20!).
However, for about the price of a soundbank I'm getting hundreds of new presets, including MPE support, so even if it does sound more similar than not, I had fun this morning with it!
But I'm not a purist or a tonehound like lots of others who know way more than me. Likely I'll stick a bunch of effects on the track anyway - if I run it through Output's Portal can you really tell how exactly accurate the VST is in it's emulation anyways?
So yeah, I had fun and for the price it was a good deal (for me - totally get those who say it's not for them).

Not really true...the models in Diva certainly sound distinctive and different. So does Repro. So do The Legend and Obsession. And Monark. And the Arturia stuff.SLiC wrote: ↑Fri Sep 17, 2021 10:10 amPretty much all of the VST VA synths ever made 'can' pretty much sound the same, there is only so much difference that can be achieved mixing a few basic oscillator shapes and a subtractive filter and minimal modulation (limited by copying old hardware's limitations).
Personally whilst I admire the work in this and 1000's of other bits of software modelling old hardware, the old analogue stuff is the least interesting stuff to model in my opinion.
The Cherry models IMHO don't sound much different than what you can get out of Voltage Modular.
I would consider these to be tribute synths rather than modeled synths.

Whoa!!!
Well yes, a sawtooth is a sawtooth, but the character of a synth is much more than that...

Are you sure? I couldn't get it to respond to any 5D modulation from my Roli Lightpads.
I had a play around with the demo last night and, whilst it sounds pretty nice, I have plenty of nice sounding synths already and I don't hear anything that makes a compelling argument for my $40. I can't hear anything in it I couldn't do as easily with Invader or Saurus. Ultimately, I am pretty sure it would suffer the fate of the other Cherry VSTi's I've bought, none of which I have ever actually used in a song.
One thing about it, though, is that it is their nicest looking GUI to date. So that's something. I might try it in a few songs today before I uninstall it but I am not hopeful.

You have to enable MPE support in the settings, and it only supports the “standard” three dimensions. More info here:
