Why do edits slow down over time?

When I start a fresh edit, it opens and saves quickly. The CPU load is commensurate with whatever I have playing. But over time, projects seem to develop excessive open/save times and CPU loads. This happens even if I render to audio, disable, and/or mute anything CPU intensive. An edit full of only audio files can have very different performance depending on whether it's fresh or heavily used but rendered down. Possibly related: even if I disable or delete every instance of Kontakt from an edit, when I open the edit, Kontakt's loading window appears. Does Waveform load deleted/disabled plugins?

What are the best practices for keeping edits from becoming prohibitively slow over time (sometimes even un-openable)? Can I consolidate files or do something to improve slow load times? My current solution is to render files and transfer them to a new edit, but this means redoing all my markers/tempo/chord information.

I have the same problem right now and don't know why it happens. Could you find a solution for it ?

I haven't found a clear solution. Disabling tracks and deleting tracks doesn't seem to help. I've tried using the Consolidate Files and the Find Referenced Files buttons, but that doesn't change much.

Like I said, my solution is to do all my sound design / arrangement in one edit, render everything down to audio, and then copy/paste as needed in a fresh edit. Bit of a pain, but manageable!

Ok, thanks fo the reply....Too bad, one of the main reasons for buying Waveform was that it seemed intuitive, clean and fast....

I guess it has to do with the automatic backup of the edit.
You can deactivate it in the settings panel.
