Yeh, I can get a hardware eventide H9 MAX pedal for less than these virtual Amplitube pedals, doesn’t compute. I was expecting 49 each and a decent bundle price….I guess as they are giving all of there other products away free they have to make all of their profit on there pedals!
One thing you can be sure of, they will be a fraction of the cost or even free (based on the current give aways) at some point in the future….all you have to do with IK is wait….there is always a no brainier deal just around the corner….

Thanks for the hot tip, Peter! Will be giving it a go!Peter - IK Multimedia wrote: Thu Sep 09, 2021 8:31 pmNice tip. Try also putting the EQ 81 at the end of the chain, even without touching it except to balance the level if necessary. Another nice way to get some great tone. Jason Sadites, I believe, is the one who likes to do the same but to push the input and pull back the output on the 81 but both types of 81 use/abuse can kick up your tone.AC222 wrote: Thu Sep 09, 2021 7:39 pm Peter, thanks for sharing! I myself am eager to test drive the new pedals. All of the new stuff is a nice step forward in realism.
For what it's worth, I feel like I discovered a hidden gem in Amplitube 5. Placing the Rox Varidiode + in front of distorted amps really gives them another gear and more of that "in your face" and alive sound from hearing the original amp heads. New secret weapon!
Looking forward to checking out all the new IK goodies![]()

No problem. If you go for the Jason Sadites version of the tip, it's very much a hot (level) tipAC222 wrote: Thu Sep 09, 2021 8:37 pmThanks for the hot tip, Peter! While I'm giving credit where due, I think I first saw Thomas Brunkard who does amazing things with AmpliTube Brian May use the 81 as a bit of a "secret weapon".

I put T-RackS EQ 81 (with the MIC preamp on) in front of Tape Machine 80 to drive it.Peter - IK Multimedia wrote: Thu Sep 09, 2021 8:31 pm Nice tip. But what we REALLY need is a Helios Type 69 model (complete with preamp modeling, of course) because that is THE sound of rock n' roll. Just ask Led Zeppelin, ACDC, Eric Clapton, Pete Townshend, etc.
THIS MUSIC HAS BEEN MIXED TO BE PLAYED LOUD SO TURN IT UP

The pedals as standalone plugins would be very nice IMO. Just easier from a workflow perspective.
Could even bundle them as the X-Gear Collection. At $149 MSRP each, I'd want them as separate plugins, not locked into Amplitube. And then you can bundle them for $399 MSRP. Honestly, that would still be wildly expensive, but I couldn't imagine paying $149 just for an Amplitube stompbox ever. I do want to hear the new algorithms though so I'll give the demo a go.

Oh, cool - now I am looking forward to demoing these in the software when I plug in and play tomorrow! I've been really curious how the algorithms sound. Considering picking up one of those hardware units for a breakout FX processor and something to get my guitar into my comp with good quality & modern drivers. But I haven't had any chance to try any of them out in person to pick.
It will be very helpful to demo them a bit, and I appreciate the integration from the perspective of a possible user of one of those physical units since it looks like it's tied to its preset management capabilities also. Dial it up in AT5, make it sound like you want, upload it to the device and go from there.

Anyone who has installed the 5.1 update seeing a noticeable increase in CPU usage?. I was reading on another forum where people were reporting up to 200% increase in CPU usage.
I am holding off on the update for a bit until the jury is in.

How long is the demo length for the x-gear pedals in amplitube? I hope it’s more than 3 days given the large amount of algo’s in the single pedal. And once demoed, are you able to demo it again at a later date? Not in the market for physical pedals so I don’t know if I can demo now and then again later? or if it’s a single demo period should I hold off demoing until I’m in the market?

Man, how can you all even read the settings on these!! The VariDiode+ looks like its in another language on my laptop, and the 81 EQ I cannot read any of the frequency settings. Also cant seem to zoom in closer to any of the racks or pedals and my amplitube plugin is already max size for my monitor. Any advice? Running Mac + Logic (AU) if that matters.Peter - IK Multimedia wrote: Thu Sep 09, 2021 8:58 pmNo problem. Edit: pulled up AT4 to check as I dont remember having this issue before updating, and the graphics are much more clear and readable in AT4. In AT5 they are all soft and hazy. Check for yourself. Any chance of a GUI readability update? I would also like to have the ability to hide the signal path so the racks & pedals can become bigger. Seems like a large waste of space. Or perhaps if the text was sharper this wouldnt be needed?

Something very definitely off here from a performance perspective. With the GUI open performance has gone to crap with the GUI just randomly lagging (I will move a knob or press a button in AT5.1 and it'll take a few seconds to show on screen if it all) and even causing the meters in Reaper to lag. I'm in an empty project with only Amplitube open on a single mono track. Using VST2 Reaper and Windows 10. And this is on a 3950X with an ASRock X570 Creator mobo, Radeon RX 5500 XT 4GB GDDR6 graphics card with 32GB DDR4 3600MHz RAM, so this PC should be breezing along.

...I reported the issue to IK. I hope they're good about demo resets because I started the trial for the X-Drive but ultimately downgraded back to 5.03.

Quick question on AT5: How do I adjust the cabinet size? In AT4 this was a slider in the cab section, but I cant seem to find this in AT5?

There has been an update since this post that resolved some things, much appreciated. Man, the X-Drive pedals sound cool, and having the different EQ on them gives a new twist. I still need to try the modulations and time based effects.
Their recent updates have added reverb and delay spillover as well, which I am very excited about. Some update earlier this year tightened up some pitch based effect behavior for me, too. Thanks for the support
