Hello All,
I'm running Bitwig on Ubuntu Studio 20.04 LTS and am really happy with the performance and overall stability. I'm running several windows VST's with LinVST succesfully.
But what i'm missing is a good slicer, since the slicing in Bitwig really sucks.
I do own New Sonic Arts Vice which is a really good slicer but i do not get it to work with LinVST. It runs as standalone under wine and wineasio succesfull. So it must be possible to get it running.
Is there anybody who had good luck with New Sonic Arts VST's under Linux LinVST?
Please let me know how you managed to get it working.
And Bitwig team please work on slicing capabilities please, it is way behind compared to Ableton simpler!!!!! This is so frustrating i rely so much on slicing but do not want to give up on Linux and Bitwig.
Thanks for any help on this!

I tested the plugin with yabridge, and for whatever reason they're doing a whole bunch of OpenGL and other GUI stuff when setting sample rates. With the latest yabridge commit this plugin should now work as expected, including the whole drag-and-drop thing:

If you want to give this a shot, first install yabridge as normal with the instructions from the readme's usage section if you haven't done so already. Then follow these instructions to install the latest development build: https://github.com/robbert-vdh/yabridge ... ment-build Don't forget to rerun yabridgectl sync at the end there!

I do own redux aswell but the onsets are not accurate enough it is in no way a competitor for vice in my opinion! But thanks for the help.kling1 wrote: Tue Sep 21, 2021 12:33 pm Did you try Renoise Redux already? Its a native linux Sampler VST.
If i get vice working man i will never go back to ableton or windows

Have you managed to install the latest development version? Or did you not get around to trying it just yet. We also have a Discord, in case you need any help.questionaire wrote: Tue Sep 21, 2021 8:27 pm Oh cool coolblinger you are the developer of yabridge! Great work! And thanks for this bridge tool![]()

Daar zit vice in.

(I'll reply in English if you don't mind in case anyone else finds this thread in the future)
You can find those builds linked in that 'Installing a development build' readme section I linked above:
https://github.com/robbert-vdh/yabridge ... ment-build
You'll need to sign into GitHub, select the latest commit on this page, download the latest build (that's yabridge-3.5.2-51-g3950f055.tar.gz at the time of writing), and then replace yabridge's files in ~/.local/share/yabridge with the ones from the archive.
And then just follow the rest of the instructions from the Usage section I linked above. So in short, you'll need to run:
And then tell Bitwig to search for plugins in that VSTPlugins directory.

Hello Coolblinger,
I have vice working really a big thanks for the help and the yabridge tool!
I have the perfect setup now, being Bitwig running on Linux with the perfect slicer VST!
Until Bitwig has a better slicing integration into sampler than the vice functionality i will use vice!
The only thing with Vice is that it opens with a lag, say two seconds has that something to do with vice or is it Yabridge it self?
Not a big dealbreaker but maybe that could be improved?
Nogmaals dank!

You mean the time it takes to load the plugin after inserting it, or the time it takes to open the GUI? Both thing take almost no time at all on my system:questionaire wrote: Wed Sep 22, 2021 7:21 am Hello Coolblinger,

It's probably either your Wine version (I'm using wine-tkg 6.17 on Manjaro with fsync enabled) or if your Wine prefix is located on a hard drive, that. The plugin loads a bunch of resources on startup, so slow storage would likely cause the plugin to take longer to load.
