i am a long time user of fruityloops/flstudio (currently using flstudio 5), and very new to tracktion.
i am trying to set up flstudio as a rewire client in tracktion, which seems to work, however there is one part i don't quite understand.
when you first add flstudio rewire as a "filter" on a track, and click "launch editor" it opens the flstudio window, where i begin creating my drums. when i close the flstudio editor, it returns to tracktion and my drums play in the track as expected.
the part i don't get, is are you supposed to save your flp (flstudio project file) in flstudio and have to re-open that flp every time you re-load that project?? or is there some way it should be associating that with the tracktion project and do it automatically?
i've also noticed that every time i close and reopen tracktion, and open flstudio from within tracktion, my flstudio settings change back to their defaults...

just read this in the documentation:
so i'm guessing that is telling me that tracktion can't do what i'm expecting (or the reqire technology doesn't, whatever)?ReWire doesn't allow the state of a ReWire device to be stored in an edit! So when you return to an edit, it's up to you to reconfigure the device as it should be to play the edit correctly.

Why not just use FL Studio as a VSTi within Tracktion instead of as a Rewire slave? That way Tracktion should save any edits you do within FL Studio without you having to save it from FL Studio.

At the minute you can't use FL5 as a VSTi, there is no sound. Gol is working on a fix (I haven't checked, mabye done already?)LBN wrote:Why not just use FL Studio as a VSTi within Tracktion instead of as a Rewire slave? Well that's a blow!
Anyhows, using ReWire, YES you have to save your edit in FL and in Tracktion (give it the same file name in each or you'll regret it later!). And you have to reopen the FL edit each time you run the Tracktion project.
Using FL in VST mode does save you this hassle, but puts your FL edit onto one Tracktion track, rather than allowing you to mix your FL project in Tracktion, if you see what I mean.
So there are pros and cons - but nice to have the choice!
