I really dig that Burn In Noise Ana2 preset pack, actually I bought Ana in order to get my hands on these sounds and reverse-engineer them. They are so good that I could just drop them into a track and call it a day if I was that lazy.
Thanks for the tip!
yeah, this pack

also check out this one

You may think you can fly ... but you better not try

Cheers recursive.
Appreciated.

recursive one wrote: Thu Sep 23, 2021 11:01 pm I see that it probably won't appeal to analog lovers, sonically it's somewhere in between Virus, Sylenth and the old Massive
That is a fair evaluation recursive one.
I almost purchased ANA2 but opted for Spire, I think Spire has much better Fx and slightly more definition for the sounds my ears like and want to hear.
Sonic Academy rarely update, they create and move on which is perfectly fine but I like incremental updates which add new features rather than the fire and forget philosophy which SA and so many other developers adopt.
I chose ANA 2 over Spire...

Spire is a good synth, but they are just tacking bits and pieces onto the framework as they go along, where ANA 2 had everything in place from the get go...

Spire 2 will be better because it should have wavetable import and a few of the other features that are already in ANA 2...

At the end of the day, what synth you use is not that important...

We all spend too much time comparing apples with apples..

What we do with the tools as a part of the music that we make is where our real focus should always be :tu:
No auto tune...

I basically only have U-he synths + Chromaphone3 and some additional drum synths.

I had spire but it took them too long to fix critical bugs so i sold it, might rebuy it someday.
A lot of sounds that ANA2 makes can be done with hive and i simply prefer how Hive does them.

ANA2 still has a bunch of bugs (like the drop down presets menu only works from time to time) and underoptimized stuff (no easy way to disable/lock cmd and arp when browsing presets, panels with close buttons all over the place, gui is not dpi aware etc) that were never fixed. I really hoped that when they started collab with Slate, they’ll fix these things, but it seems they didn’t.

Ironically, is one of the main reasons (along with Synthmaster and Avenger) I stopped providing feedback or requests or bug reports and whatnot to developers and suddenly I got noticeably more time to make music. So I’m using ANA as rusty as it is, to remind me that it’s imperfections indirectly resulted in me making more music. It’s all good :)

Is slate known for fixing stuff and timely releases? :D

What's the copy protection BTW? Is it offline key file protection as it says in the KVR database? The site says something about subscription, I presume it relates to the sample libraries they offer on the side?

Keyfile...

Really simple and unobtrusive :tu:
No auto tune...

That's good, thanks. Maybe one day... you know how it goes... :hihi:

I've been eyeing up Spire and ANA2 for a while, wondering which one to pick. Both look appealing, but ANA2 seems to have an overall nicer interface and plenty of nice filters and seems to be more endowed in the wavetable department too.

Post

imo ANA's filters are underwhelming.
it's a nice synth and does a lot, but spire sounds better.
but ANA does more.
it depends whether you need a synth that does more or sounds better.

People often think I'm biased because I do a lot of work for Sonic Academy, but ANA2 is way, waaaaay better than Spire both in terms of features and sound....in my opinion. I've had to work with Spire lately and something just isn't right with the way it sounds.....to me. I do like the unison, the oscillators sound ok and the Virus style filters work, but once it goes through the FX and output section it always sounds too dense, and not in a good way.

ANA2 has so many sweet spots.

Post

that sounds biased, ngl.

Spire is dense in a great way for EDM. It's instant modern EDM sound.

ANA2 has no sound, it's as bland as i.e. alchemy for simple subtractive sounds
