I cannot get Tracktion to unlock...

Okay, I have bought a copy of Tracktion, Registered my machine ID, downloaded the keyfile, started it up and navigated to the 'About' window...

Here's the problem... When I click 'unlock this copy using a keyfile...' nothing happens. Well my mouse pointer switches to the busy one for a few seconds (or until I move it to the edge of the screen) but quickly switches back to my regular pointer. No window prompt/menu to navigate to/select my keyfile occurs at all.

Any ideas? I have reinstalled and redownloaded more times than I care to remember and nothing makes a difference. Has anybody else run into this? Is there a service running that might prevent this from happening? Anyone?

Try this, close Tracktion, then find the key file on your computer, now just drag it directly onto the Tracktion Icon. See if that works.

Thanks, that worked.

But I still have the same problem in that for some reason, when I click on "new project" or "open project" nothing happens (except for the mouse pointer temporarily changing) so I think it's a weird bug with my system.

Something else running is blocking these system calls. I can get it to work on my non-music PC so I know what behavior should be happening but no dice. Weird, huh?

Any ideas?

I've run anti-virus and anti-spyware software regularly.

never seen anything like that, and I can't immediately see a way this could be happening witout other apps being affected. :?

try clean reinstalling Tracktion first, but if that doesn't help I'd say your PC has something a litle messed up somewhere.

Thanks Valley, I'm figuring the same thing as a few other programs are crashing whenever being asked to open something.

Damned if I know what that is. Something is definately pooched, though.

Eeep... hate to say it, but this might be a very good time to make a biiiig hard drive backup. Just to be on the safe side.

Hope you're able to get everything straightened out without trouble. Good luck!
