I couldn't have said it any better myself.zerocrossing wrote: Thu Sep 30, 2021 1:51 pm There was really nothing wrong with Tantra 1’s UI. I sort of hate the constant, “we need to get with the times” mentality. No one looks at their Prophet 5 and thinks, “if only this looked more modern.” Sure, problems should be fixed, and if a visual change helps make things more clear, I’m in, but almost always I find these interface changes to make things worse. The truth is, non-skeuomorphic designs are the most difficult to design for. You’re throwing out centuries of product design that formed a language that everyone understood. I can imagine the designers giddy with delight saying, “oooo, look how clever this design is! We hid all kinds of functionality that they’ll have to learn about in the manual or accidentally stumble across!”
Dmitry Sches Tantra 2 is coming tomorrow

Unfortunately, I have to agree. This is the first time that I've realized that a GUI can be too large and yet still too small at the same time.fceramic wrote: Thu Sep 30, 2021 12:21 pm The GUI is really odd. So much empty space and tiny controls. Grey on grey on grey makes it hard to read.Sounds fantastic, but I know I will never use this cause the UI is just so uninspiring and hard to use.
With that said...
Tantra 2 sounds pretty damned good. So good that I'm willing to give the GUI time to grow on me. The truth is that the presets sound so good that I honestly don't need to interact with the tiny controls that much.

Sorry, here's some more information in addition to my former post.
After a one year subscription I found out that I do not use any PA plugins, whatever or whenever I needed some plugin for a certain task I always found a plugin that I liked, but it was never PA. Imo their plugins are not bad for a beginner, I mean, they are so cheap, so what to expect?! You get what you pay.
I could add some more reasons not to use PA, but that should be enough.
The new release reminds me of PA unfiltered audio stuff, never liked even one their plugins, but that's just me.
It is also not the first time pa has a terrible gui, bettermaker is one more example.
Worst thing about PA and especially brainworx is that they do not care about their customers' opinions and even give replies full of arrogance, I saw it several times.
Sorry, in case someone might be offended that I do not join the hype, but that's life, different opinions in a colorful world
I say "no!" to PA! (and I am not the only one in this thread

To me, it's so clean and crispy and because it's so utilitarian just kinda gets out of the way. I really prefer these kind of more simple, clinical interfaces. Not sure I can explain why. I think it looks great and feels great to use. I'm displaying it fairly large on my fairly large screen and have no issues with readability at all. At first I didn't like the soft stop dials, but after working with it a bit, I think it's a great and useful idea for when you crank dials in performing. The one thing I don't care for is the reordering of the effects being on a separate bar at the top instead of just dragging the effects modules themselves. I'm perplexed that everyone seems to hate it. I'd say it's one of my favorite recent interfaces. I also really like the Generate interface.Teksonik wrote: Thu Sep 30, 2021 1:05 pmJust out of curiosity what is it you love about this GUI ?
Style preference is subjective but quality is another matter altogether.
Case in point these screenshots:
T2 093021-1.png
T2 093021-2.png
T2 093021-3.png
The interface is barely legible. On a quality scale of 1 to 10 I'd give it a 2 and that's being generous. Again I love Dmitry but how this ever got past Beta is beyond me....
Again I'll remind everybody of the Tantra 1 GUI. This is a low quality screen grab but you see the difference between the two versions.

So I just ran Tantra 1 and 2 side by side with the same presets and can't hear a difference. I'm not seeing much difference in the parameter options so I'm not really sure what this adds to Tantra 1. Also prefer the old GUI. I was holding out for Tantra 2 for such a long time and I'm a bit disappointed. No real extra 'killer' features and a worse GUI. Can anyone tell me why I would get T2?

I'm perplexed anyone would like the new GUI but such is the nature of personal preference.
When compared to Tantra 1 the new GUI is a huge step backwards to me but I'm not a fan of "simple, clinical interfaces".
In my opinion this is one of the worst GUIs released in recent memory.
Oh well it's not like the interface is going to change. It took him long enough just to get to this point so it's either put up with it or pass.
Tantra 1 is a great sounding plugin and I love the way it looks and functions so I'll just stick with it.
Sorry Dmitry you know I love you brother but I think you just struck out this time.

Interesting. I don't have Tantra 1 on this system to compare and doubt I'll install the 2 demo on my studio computer but if it's not bringing anything new I can't give you one single reason why either of us should get T2.Mr Arkadin wrote: Thu Sep 30, 2021 5:31 pm So I just ran Tantra 1 and 2 side by side with the same presets and can't hear a difference. I was also really looking forward to T2 and wondered all the time how awesome it would sound and look but I am more than a bit disappointed.

You know I do like a number of PA plugs, and I love Thorn for its particular strengths. I use it pretty often. I am not against a non-skeuomorphic GUI, personally! But I do have to agree in practice this seems no better and maybe worse. Hrm. Does it really not add any significant features compared to the first one, also? I never used the first one and now I am wondering if it would be better to use it instead if I like the concept

I also say "no" to PA. I have tantra 1, and infiltrator is so much better its kind of sad. I got tantra 1 before PA clubbed DS on the head and dragged him into their cave.
