I will. What features are missing in C11?
The missing feature mentioned is a "gapless audio engine".

But in reality there are no missing features in any DAWs until we start comparing. Comparisons are the curse of the modern age. We hardly get use to one thing and the next "better" thing is just around the corner. But compared to tape splicing from the 1960s I would say that Cubase has its nose out in front by quite a margin. :)
Ah ok. I thought that something was removed that is in 10.5.
I don't need gapless audio (I prefer solid latency compensation) so I'm good.

the audio engine breaking during editing used to not be this utter disaster in Key Editor before v.9 (we could change focus in there during record etc), now they stuck a record enable button in, superfluously and quite pointlessly since it was never not enabled in there, you just hit record. Now every change of focus is liable to break up the audio, and in many cases here it's not just a break in the audio, if there's something evolving over time an interruption like that makes it impossible.
And there used to be a behavior with external sync selected where hitting record was the same as with tape machines, it was on pause and space bar starts record. Nope.
They're losing the plot in a big way. Certain decisions they make are going to keep me on 11.0.0 for the duration. So getting a gapless audio engine together is crucial for me to continue.

I'm used to and don't want to lose two things: 1) global tracks in Key Editor, I can see the tempo track and the marker track in there; and 2) ramp curves in CC/control lanes in there. Both are significant workflow improvements and significantly work-reducing/time-saving over time.

I never cared that much about the breaking the audio during an edit, but record enable in K.E. really is ruinous and costs me a lot of time - and more importantly interrupts and retards my thought
the opposite of a workflow improvement and quite idiotic, a decision made by someone with zero sense of the use of the program.

Off the top of my head from what I recall...
1. Audio engine interrupts playback when adding plugins or making certain changes unlike SO5
2. Unable to arrange tracks in mixer view
3. Multi track editing like SO5
4. Mixer snapshots unable to recall automation data

What?! You've never recorded a part inside Key Editor then

To record at all in there, the record_enable button has to be red, on. Again: It did not exist until a few yrs ago, at some iteration of 9 I believe some idiot with nothing better to do decided it needed to be. IT DOESN'T.
Again, it used to simply be hit record and f**king record, whatever is in focus in K.E. is ready to go.
I feel like am certain I described it clearly. In addition to this change, the external sync option does not do what it used to do, belay playback with the literal record button having been pressed, like the pause function on a tape recorder. these are anti-ergonomic, disrupt the user's workflow, pointless changes.

if the record_enable is not on, there is no hearing a part in there from a controller input. The only way to get note-ons on disk otherwise is to draw them, which must be all you've done in there.

I don't like to rant so much, but if there are users from SX1 through, oh, 8.5 with these workflow preferences, be prepared to have to adapt to their new, stupid ways.

OK I am a little surprised, C 11 Pro seems way faster , and the performance increase is immense. I've never noticed such an improvement in a version release of Cubase tbh I started at 5 and tbh it's been steadily downhill , but suddenly 11 has improved the speed of the media browser and the ASIO meter is 10-15% less than it was in the same project on C10.5

If they've really made the effort on improving performance, they really did get it right with this version. I'll be hard pressed to even want to upgrade further incase they break it again.

Kudos Steinberg.

I missed the recent sale on Cubase and I have a question regarding Steinberg's Cubase promotions.

Do the 40% or 50% sales on Cubase (updates/upgrades/crossgrades) happen only once a year (during July-August)?

I am interested in updating from Elements 10 to 11 (11.5) and the currency converted price for me in the Steinberg store is $35 USD incl. tax. While it is not expensive, I am thinking if it would be worth waiting for a sale during the next 3 months.

(Note to self, can save $5 if bought from Sweetwater: https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail ... 5-download)

There was a 50% off sale last year so i bought an upgrade from 6.5 to 10.5 that cost AU$250.
This year there was a 40% off sale and the upgrade from 6.5 to 11 was AU$150.
go figure

Thanks a lot for the detailed reply, it was actually a very helpful reply and I liked reading it. Much appreciated.
The customer support is just as good as well if you do it this way. It's not great, but it turned out to be very good for me.
Sorry, did not understand this. But I can certainly say that I have had a couple of positive experiences with phone support in the past - they are excellent. Unfortunately, it's a bit difficult to connect with the support as I don't understand German. Once connected, they speak English so it's fine.

I'm not sure if I am understanding you correctly, but I think that is the half price off amount. It doesn't get cheaper than that. At least I have never seen it cheaper. Get it at that price, because it will only be double that amount in a while. There is no way you will get it for half of £35 or $35, I don't think. I bought 2 copies of Elements even though I own Cubase Pro, and both of them cost me about 40 quid. No way you are going to get them for 20 quid. Even if it is an update, you still need to pay top dollar. I may be very wrong about this. It may be that you can get it for half that price if you are just doing a single upgrade.

It may very well be that Steinberg have a cap on discounted upgrades. So even if they do have a 50 percent/40 percent off sale, that might not apply to certain upgrades of their lower end products. They do give a lot off, but they still don't give stuff away for nothing. I think they might not include this in their sales. But you might get lucky. Speak to them!
To clarify, it's not the full version price. My update price from Cubase Elements 10 (basically for Cubase Elements 6 to 10.5) to Cubase Elements 11 is currently $35 incl. of tax. I believe this is a non-promotion price and I would have been able to apply the coupon code during the recent 40% off Cubase 11 sale that happened in July 2021. So, it would have costed me about $21 with the discount.

40% on all updates & upgrades
During Cubase Studio Weeks, you can save 40% on all updates and upgrades to Cubase 11.

Additionally, I had upgraded from Cubase LE to Cubase Elements 10 two years ago for about $25. So, it is indeed possible to "update" to a new version of Elements for less than $35.

That said, I acknowledge that we are talking about insignificant price differences (~ $10) and I will not wait for a sale now if I want to grab the Cubase Elements 11 Update.

One thing I could do is though buy the Cubase Elements 11 Update from Sweetwater right now and activate it a couple of weeks later assuming Steinberg releases Cubase 11.5 next month, in which case I will be eligible for the grace period. Just saw the trends of last two years. Of course, it can change this time, but worth going by the trend in this case. No loss in doing that.
I'd contact Steinberg. They won't tell you when a sale will happen, but they will tell you if there is a possibility of some money off. No one here knows when those sales happen.
Yes. I think for this particular case I may not need to contact support, but I will keep your points in mind. As I said, I should try for phone support, but that's a pretty high ISD call rate for me - might lose a few dollars doing that and might not be worth for Elements, haha. I was in touch with email support regarding Groove Agent 5 sale and the missed opportunity of End of Summer Sale, but no luck with it.

There are two things I want to buy: Cubase Elements Update and Groove Agent 5 Full Version. Unfortunately, I missed the excellent promotions on both of these. :(

Thanks again for your time and help. :tu:
