Viper is so inspirational to me right now i forget for other synthsEchoes in the Attic wrote: Wed Sep 22, 2021 4:15 pmI think the filters are great as is. I'd like to see more virus TI type oscillator modes. All the weird stuff like graintables that give cool textures.
Liking that white Virus TI rip off skin by the way.

Playing with the demo and really digging it, especially while reading a whole bunch of pages of this thread.
I'm a Virus TI desktop owner for 12 years or so
Just switched from Mac to Windows (partly from the lack of support if I upgraded my MacBook pro for the official Virus VST) but also........ it means I can try out Viper!
Another vote for a patch converter, I know it's unlikely (as who would have the motivation) but man.. bi-directional patch conversion would be amazing. I love the idea of using a plugin sometimes for the convenience (not needing to set up the hardware, and deal with convoluted audio and midi routings in my DAW) and especially for the unique features, like custom wavetables. But sometimes I love jamming on synths away from my computer and being a hardware nerd.
I also suspect that going forward, Viper will have more contemporary soundpacks made for it. It's a currently developed product, and being an affordable VST, means that it's more likely to get into the hands of younger people making contemporary tunes. Converting some of those to Virus... would be awesome for people like me anyway!

Mod Matrix / Lfo routing
This is something that I feel shows the age of the Virus Plugin's UI versus things like Massive or Serum, which give you more visual clues to indicate what stuff is being controlled by modulators.
While adding rings around controls like those synths do to show you "LFO amount" sounds like it would be a lot of work. a duplicate of the "default routings" on the matrix page (if there's a way to make them fit) would be super cool.
But the way it's handled is certainly consistent with the original and is perfectly usable.
Patch library
The other thing I think that was limited with the original versus newer synths, is the patch browser.
especially when you end up with banks and banks of sounds on the virus, it gets super overwhelming and slow to find relevant ones quickly. The 2 category tags in the Virus isn't really specific enough for me sometimes, there was no way to limit results to "Tag1 AND Tag2".
A tag-based library would be amazing
Versus loading banks of 128 and having them arranged in some random way.
Mini knobs
I dig the miniature knob previews on the left for the most important parameters!
Audio FX
That would be sick!
Overall
But hey, that's all quality of life suggestions.
It's already got some UI advantages over the original, lots of the sounds sound fantastic, I can save the sounds inside my project file and I don't need complicated audio /midi routings and don't have to deal with all my automation from multiple synth parts all going on the one track!
Great work!
Agreed...recursive one wrote: Mon Apr 26, 2021 10:33 am The only thing I never liked about both Virus Control and Viper is that the hardwired LFO assignments don't show up in the mod matrix when they are used - thus when reverse-engineering a preset it's often necessary to look up for the LFO assignments in two separate tabs - that's probably the only case when the tab sturcture may be a problem.

Any chance of an audio fx version in the future??Vortifex wrote: Tue Aug 03, 2021 2:13 pm I really like the reverb in it, sometimes I wish it was available as a separate VST.

Yes, being able to load Virus patches will be possible in the future, it is something I will take a look at. It will be a very time consuming task, so it wont be soon, but its something to look forward to! Not every patch will be 100% compatible though, as the Virus has features that Viper doesnt have and vice-versa, but many presets should sound idencital or at least very close, so its something to keep in mind.BigFknRobots wrote: Sat Oct 02, 2021 6:45 pm Another vote for a patch converter, I know it's unlikely (as who would have the motivation) but man.. bi-directional patch conversion would be amazing.
Right now I am in the process of creating lots of soundbanks for viper, the first one will be a Hardstyle bank, then other genres will followBigFknRobots wrote: Sat Oct 02, 2021 6:45 pm I also suspect that going forward, Viper will have more contemporary soundpacks made for it.
I am planning to release the reverb as a free plugin, it will just take time as I have to do a hundred other things, and I also have some new ideas for features to add, but it will definitely happen at some point!BigFknRobots wrote: Sat Oct 02, 2021 6:45 pmAny chance of an audio fx version in the future??Vortifex wrote: Tue Aug 03, 2021 2:13 pm I really like the reverb in it, sometimes I wish it was available as a separate VST.

Yeah, I mean, there's a bunch of stuff like all the overdrives they added later on (obviously a forerunner to some of the kemper guitar fx stuff)adamtrance wrote: Sun Oct 03, 2021 8:44 amYes, being able to load Virus patches will be possible in the future, it is something I will take a look at. recreating that... would be a whole project in itself!
(plus there's other software amp sims that exist so isn't the most important thing to focus on emulating)
obviously means that patches using that feature won't sound the same when imported.
Sick, Hardstyle isn't my main jam, (though used to be a lighting op for Defqon Australia when that was a thing)adamtrance wrote: Sun Oct 03, 2021 8:44 amBigFknRobots wrote: Sat Oct 02, 2021 6:45 pm I also suspect that going forward, Viper will have more contemporary soundpacks made for it.

But awesome! I'll stay tuned for the other packs
But would be awesome to import any bass house, dnb, IDM or techno sound packs anyone makes for Viper into my virus

Actually most of Viper users want exactly the opposite - to load dope Virus presets into Viper
Anyway with or without Virus presets i hope Adam to continue upgrade his amazing synth.
I am still amazed how intuitive and easy workflow is and how useful in the mix.
No doubt best default presets library i ever touch - it gives you instant inspiration.
Adam is top notch edm presets designer.
Last three years spend developing something i call 'nonlinear dynamic' technology, purpose is to turn any single page, one layer synth into sweess knife multifunctional machine.
All i discover about sonic transformations will be focused to Viper soundset with such technology probably early 2022.
I could build an ordinary soundset with 128 presets from scratch for two weeks, but with 'nonlinear technology' will take two months at least if have right mood, functionality and dynamic is way better than 'typical' sound you expect from subtractive synths.
Viper became my new obsession,it makes me feel like i was 7-8 years ago when start to learn sound design - super enthusiastic, which is super
:):)
Cheers

a soundset for minimal and meldoic techno would be nice, but importing virus presets would be the killer featureadamtrance wrote: Sun Oct 03, 2021 8:44 am

Picked Viper up today after testing and let's just say i've not had this much fun since picking up Avenger! ( although overtime with Avenger i'd get more and more pissed due to the time it takes samples to load ). Great sound and by far the easiest synth i've used for sound design, can't wait for Adam's expansion packs!:)
