Big thank you to kraftraum. :tu:

Post

out of curiosity:
where (on mac os) is the startup bank located ?

Post

Nowhere, it is "inside" the plug-in (I was almost saying "in the ROM" :hihi:).

I just realised there's a page for Whispair dev here.
I think there's a bug in the filter EG when playing chords with repeating notes. The EG is fully open and a slow attack is set, but if the next chord contains the same note repeated, Whispair treats its filter as one held note, even though the sequencer isn't holding the note. It's not repeatable in another synth using the same midi clip. The workaround is to shorten the notes so the first note ends maybe 0.0.0.4 before the next starts. But as you can see the issue doesn't materialize on notes not repeating so Whispair's behaviour isn't consistent, or am I missing something why a repeating note ignores the filter EG attack but a non-repeating doesn't?

Switch to "Multi Trig."

Post

Using Multi Trig on the Filter EG or Amp EG doesn't make any difference, unfortunately, same issue. The issue occurs on many of the presets too with an attacking filter like this and adjacent notes in a chord progression.

I will see what I can do.

Just thought, if I negate the Filter EG Intensity, you can then very clearly hear the filter? open within the duplicated note, but not on a changing note when in multi trigger mode.

Maybe it's me but I think polyaftertouch is unusable because way to sensitive with a lot of the mod destinations.
Otherwise it's a really great synth! I'm really digging how the sync am and fm interact with the wavetables. Cheers to you Bjorn!

I don't think it's polyaftertouch-related, these chords are just drawn in, not played. I don't see an issue when just loosely playing chords from the keyboard because the chord notes will have a gap between them then. It seems to be just multiple notes triggering isn't working when one note end is flush against the same note repeated. A weird one, but easily resolved by just shortening the note lengths by a fraction. Could be Bitwig-related, but I've never experienced it before.

It is not a bug but works as I designed it (talking about the envelope behaviour here):

If an incoming note is already played by a voice of WhispAir, the voice scheduler assigns it to the same voice again. The envelope of that voice restarts and catches up the current envelope level (same way as an analog envelope would do).
Now if a Note Off and a Note On event arrive at the same time, the envelope has no time to enter the Release phase, and thus its output will catch up and remain at the same level - it simply cannot drop to zero.

"Workaround": Give WhispAir a lil' bit time between Note Off and On, i.e. shorten the note events a tiny bit.

Cheers, Björn
