Are any of those acts still going? Haven't heard of any of 'em, except maybe Kid Rock, in at least a decade.hoxclab wrote: Wed Oct 13, 2021 2:10 pmNah I’m more of a Kid Rock, Korn, Limp Bizkit, Slipknot kinda dude.

Slipknot just had Knotfest and Limp Bizkit toured this summer. I told you the real wasn't dead.

Except they are most definitely dead here. Music like that no longer has any profile so if you don't know about it, you'll never learn about it. That makes it very hard to expand, or even maintain, your fan base. And Limp Bizkit haven't released an album in a decade. That sounds pretty dead to me. In fact, LB have managed just five albums since they started in 1995, exactly what we've managed doing it part-time over the same time-span. Limp ndeed.

hold on a second, are you saying, kid rock is "real"?
as in, not a parody of something bygone in modern attire?
well f**k me sideways with a rusty pole.
are you sure?

I’ve been told he’s real, but when I look at where others point I just see a sailboat.vurt wrote: Thu Oct 14, 2021 1:21 pm hold on a second, are you saying, kid rock is "real"?

i think slipknot can be forgiven sadly.
saw them live about 20 years back, and they stormed it
not a huge fan or anything, but they rocked hard. (played a venue i worked at)
nice guys too.

Yeah but I bet if they were just starting out today, they'd never make it. It's those tiers below the super-stars that will disappear with time. That said, In Germany at the moment it is easier than ever for EBM artists to make the mainstream charts. Funker Vogt, who are on the same label as us, used to sell 15,000 albums and not get near the Top 40 but now, on a fraction of those sales numbers, their last two releases have spent a few weeks each in the mainstream album charts.
So if you look at that - the ability to make the mainstream charts on album sales that aren't really enough to put food on the artist's table, then it is a strong indication that music, as a viable business/industry, is very much in a terminal state.
