HI,
horst
I would like to see this for all synths, maybe via midi plus pitch, but have no idea if this could be done.

There are other ways to do it, for example using pitch bends and multiple monophonic instances or using MPE but direct support by the plug in makes it much easier.midklang wrote: Sat Oct 09, 2021 7:45 am

There certainly is merit: everything becomes way simpler when the DAW itself is not 12edo-locked, like in at least allowing piano roll customization. When you use microtonal-aware plugins but your MIDI data displays in 12edo, it’s hard to manipulate it the way natural for the chosen temperament.
Currently Waveform 11 supports custom names for notes, that’s nice but maybe is baseline in DAW world already.

It would be a gamechanger if Waveform supported this. If the piano roll could be locked to different tunings/temperaments/scales, that would be a huge improvement.
It could be hard to implement in the context of MIDI (and MIDI 2.0?). Or the devs might underestimate the userbase for microtonal music. Much world music is microtonal, and I keep seeing microtonal ideas popping up in new places.

If anyone else is interested in this, I did find the perfect solution: MTS-ESP. This plugin works with MPE to retune the notes. It is pretty powerful, you can morph and change scales on the fly. (Some plugins exist that have direct support for MTS-ESP, for example Serum, Zebra 2, OPS7, and more. Maybe F'Em could go that route, that would be awesome, but even without direct support it seems to work well using MPE)DrEntropy wrote: Sat Oct 09, 2021 5:14 pmThere are other ways to do it, for example using pitch bends and multiple monophonic instances or using MPE but direct support by the plug in makes it much easier.midklang wrote: Sat Oct 09, 2021 7:45 am
