Comping issues

After all these years, I decided to learn comping and it was pretty easy and really does help to finish tracks faster (I love that a selection can be moved to another take with one click, allowing me to easily find the best for that part among the takes; great job Tracktion) but I had some issues (using W11). Unfortunately the manual did not help with these and I could not find YT videos that helped either:

1. When I first start to comp, there is already a comp track based on Take 1. Ok good. I want to go ahead and select a phrase from another take but when I do that, it erases the whole comp and creates a new one with just the newly selected phrase. To overcome this, I start by selecting the entire Take 1. Not a huge deal but is annoying. Is this the way it really works?

2. I was comping from 6 takes of bass tonight and I noticed that takes 2-5 are all slightly delayed in time compared to take 1. Might be a latency issue but I wonder if anyone else has experienced this. All I can think of is to freeze other tracks when I'm comping, etc. to reduce CPU load.

1. You need to select show all takes from the + icon on bottom right of clip. Then you can use mouse and left click-drag to select the sections of each take you want in the comp.

2. Dunno,Takes should line up, haven't seen this issue.

1. Yes, it's a bit weird. Basically it assumes you're listening to take 1...but when selecting anything from a subsequent take it deselects track 1 and selects only what you just highlighted. So you're right: you need to select all of the best take first, then just select your comped parts from other takes. Seems like this could/should be an option. I haven't really thought about it until you mentioned it.

2. This seems odd. I haven't experienced it. Might be some latency.

Thanks people, yeah #1 is an issue, you confirmed it. #2 seems particular to me. I have to work further to replicate it and figure out the cause. I'll try to report here and/or to Tracktion. Cheers!
