I initially wanted to limit myself to free VSTs & build-in wavetables... but ended up using most of the heavy weapons

Almost all of the sounds use the build-in wavetables except one of the main basses, which uses some wavetables from the classic NI massive.

Was fun to play with Whispair and to make this track, I still feel that the arrangement & mix could be improved, and maybe add more musical variation... maybe next time

Man, sometimes I'm lost trying to do modmatrix stuff on this synth, I can't immediately figure out the behavior. Like when I route say, a vibrato, to an EG, and the EG is turned off, the vibrato still happens? And it only happens when the knob is in the negative direction? Why does Vibrato even have negative values (to cover some undefined behavior in the programming/logic of the modulation system? I have no clue). Not immediately intuitive or straightforward. I think that if the module you're routing to is turned "off", then no modulation should happen. This would make the logic of the system less opaque. Or maybe a few extra paragraphs in the manual.

And yes, I can do some testing along with some propositional logic in my head and figure out how it works, that's not the point. Unless I'm using this one synth all the time, I'm not going to remember how it works when I open up the synth again a month or two from now and want to mess around patchmaking again.

edit: I should write what I'm trying to actually do that's making the modulation system appear difficult to work with: I'm trying to control the vibrato with an EG, so I can add a delay to the vibrato so the note starts with no vibrato but vibrato is slowly added to the sustain. Then I want the mod wheel to control the EG amount, so that if the mod wheel is at zero, there's no vibrato even on sustain. When mod wheel is all the way up, there's full vibrato on sustain. This seems like an easy task but there's something about the modulation system that I'm not getting.

Not sure this song was really meant to be an OSC song, it should really benefit from more modulation plugins. I like using a lot of modulation inside the synths but I always want to add some phaser and stuff afterwards as well. Oh well, rules are rules

No of instances of WhispAir:- 16 (All patches designed from scratch)
Made use of factory wavetables and custom made wavetables using various imported Adventure Kid waveforms.
Also used Full Bucket SequenceAir to send midi to one of the tracks.

I already had fun with the Whispair during the beta test, but I hate to miss an OSC with the synth.

I have totally embraced WhispAir - warts and all! - Love this synth

I realized that Whispair could be made to aliase quite severely. - SO that got used creatively at the start of the piece.
Tried to load some samples to use as wavetables. I kind of tried a few random wav files and must admit was not very successful (the synth rejected most of the files I tried) which, to be fair, would not have been unexpected as I really tried some random files with no attention to the file size or exact format of the file (as long as they were wav files).

One of the first files to make it through was a random recording of shortwave radio. So I used that.
Then, in honour WhispAir's name, the other file that was converted to a wavetable was the sound voices whispering. - Used to great effect in an FX in the track. See if you can pick it out!

Given that it is Halloween, I made the track mysterious and scary

Hope you like it, it was really good fun to make!
