Seems like they are doing more than GUI re-designs with old plugins, so maybe they want to do something really special with Ultrabeat and Sculpture, especially having Camel guys behind it, really hope they will make something much more amazing out of new Ultrabeat.

Isn't Drum Machine Designer the new Ultrabeat? That was my impression anyway.Passing Bye wrote: Mon Nov 01, 2021 11:39 pmSeems like they are doing more than GUI re-designs with old plugins, so maybe they want to do something really special with Ultrabeat and Sculpture, especially having Camel guys behind it, really hope they will make something much more amazing out of new Ultrabeat.

I don't think they are going to do much with Ultrabeat going forward. Like you said DMD is it's replacement. In-fact in earlier versions (before they added the new samplers), it was literally just a skin or container for ultra beat. If you open an older project with DMD and open the Mixer you will see Ultrabeat setup as the plugin. DMD is much more versatile (more like Ableton's Drum Racks now) and much more flexible. Even the step/drum sequencer that Ultrabeat had is now pretty redundant. What it being a global thing in Logic now.pdxindy wrote: Tue Nov 02, 2021 1:05 amIsn't Drum Machine Designer the new Ultrabeat? That being said there are some things Ultrabeat does that DMD doesn't do so I think they will keep it around even if they don't update it the UI on it.

Hope not, as I already wrote, it would be cool to have more extensive Ultrabeat where you can get really deep into tweaking and layering.pdxindy wrote: Tue Nov 02, 2021 1:05 amIsn't Drum Machine Designer the new Ultrabeat? It's already a stack. It's not a "instrument" it's just a container and unfortunately in Logic you can't embed stacks within other summing stacks. It's annoying and I hope they address that as I like to keep everything pretty tidy and put everything in Folders to avoid visual clutter and also more easily manage busses.

We can only speculate, but my guess is that Ultrabeat is out the door.Passing Bye wrote: Tue Nov 02, 2021 10:14 amHope not, as I already wrote, it would be cool to have more extensive Ultrabeat where you can get really deep into tweaking and layering.pdxindy wrote: Tue Nov 02, 2021 1:05 amIsn't Drum Machine Designer the new Ultrabeat? And that’s why i dont use it - i have all my drums and basses in a single stack.

There are too many Logic users still utilizing it. I'm guessing it'll get a GUI overhaul like EXS24 did.pdxindy wrote: Tue Nov 02, 2021 2:19 pmWe can only speculate, but my guess is that Ultrabeat is out the door.Passing Bye wrote: Tue Nov 02, 2021 10:14 amHope not, as I already wrote, it would be cool to have more extensive Ultrabeat where you can get really deep into tweaking and layering.pdxindy wrote: Tue Nov 02, 2021 1:05 amIsn't Drum Machine Designer the new Ultrabeat? Well, the immersive thing is very, very attractive to me. I watched it demoed by the VSL promo guy, Paul Kopf and you can totally hear it on headphones.
A slightly weird demo because they were using what sounded like a marimba part isolated from a cute arrangement of Winter Wonderland but it was an apt sound for noticing it moving around the audient.

It would be awesome if Logic ever went on sale. It would be a long time before it could ever replace Ableton as my primary DAW. But I would like to have it for occasional things.
