Podium.

I was somewhat intimidated the first time I tried the demo, but I gave it a second chance and spent some time with it. Once you get through the setup, it's a fine host and sequencer, with a great deal of potential. I think Logic PC users still left out in the cold are very likely to find a home with this software, as it is highly customizable. It's also a nice alternative to those who want a less expensive sequencer like Tracktion but don't happen to mesh with its particular design or workflow.

I own Tracktion and I do like it, but it feels to me like an audio sequencer first, and a MIDI sequencer second. Podium's audio and MIDI features seem more balanced to me, for the way I work.

and to make an AU, you gotta get Apple's permission, and have them assign you an AU vendor code?

which can and has taken months, delaying the development and release of plugins?

doesn't seem any more 'open standard' than ReWire, in fact, to these eyes, arguably less

Logic?

Is not exactly a democratic host is it then?

Post

Just a reminder post, I will be adding a similar post to each page as they come up, so everyone gets to read it. This is for the host you pull up most to get the job done.

I have left out some hosts from the list and have been kindly reminded – but I cannot edit the poll list now that the vote has started – the vote runs for five days whereby after that it will be frozen to represent a snapshot of current use in the hosts used to get a job done.

If you have a host that is not listed – please select Other and make a post indicating your vote. (if you post more than one host, the first will be counted, if its in the poll list in wont act like another vote)

At the end of the poll I will run through the threads and add up the votes for the hosts that were not in the poll list. So far votes for Logic, Live, Bidule, and Buzz have been posted as part of the ‘Other’ listings.

Best regards,

Spe3d

Another vote here for Sonar

Post

I use Tracktion and eXT most
I want to use eXT as my main host and it gets more and more to this
with the new features for wav editing inside the sequenzer it does what I want almost 90%.
sound is vibration, vibration is life

I do most of my mixing in Sonar.
I then master in Audition.

MiniHost for me ;)

FLStudio and energyXT cover pretty much anything I want to do, really. Mostly using eXT inside FLStudio in order to do more complex melodies in eXT's sequencer synced to FLStudio, where I do most of the drum work and add effects to channels that come out of eXT (mostly with an eXT instance with 16 stereo outputs, each on a seperate FX channel).

cubase sx3..

(and still thanking apple for forcing me to crossgrade from logic.. au revoire suckers :hihi: )

Live 4 and EnergyXT are my main programs. Reason is a virtual rack and nothing more, its not a host - for which I'm thankful for.
