Apple forbids the root to be accessed now (from Catalina I think). So you just cannot make folders there (unless you hack it somehow in root mode). I personally just make a folder in Volumes, which technically creates a new APFS drive. Good for keeping things in check anyways.

Yes, but why do you need to clutter up the root of the drive and not use "Applications" or any of the other valid locations for software installs on Mac?
pls change the path to something normal, thx

Not sure if you contacted support. Hopefully you get it worked out. I've been through a few developers and, for better or worse, I'm sticking with Melda (at least for now - no promises!LKBorg wrote: Mon Apr 11, 2022 8:37 pm update after a while: I deleted it and went on to other stuff like the NI libraries (also there were things I couldn't get to work on the latest MacOS)

You don’t have to use the default path, you can change it to what you likeLKBorg wrote: Tue Feb 01, 2022 4:43 pm Yes, but why do you need to clutter up the root of the drive and not use "Applications" or any of the other valid locations for software installs on Mac?

This makes no sense in my case. The Folder in question was already created when I installed MDrummer Essentials. When trying to install SoundFactoryEssentials I get the error message that the path ( the one it had already created) can not be created. The folder is already there but the content installer does not appear to recognize it.

To reiterate - macOS now forbids access to the root (Macintosh HD), so you can NOT create any folders there. I personally create a new volume and put it there - e.g. /Volumes/DATA . Or you can use user data or something, but I like more important data (potentially shared between macOS versions) to be on a separate volume.
