Why did this thread get moved to the restricted forum Hyde Park? I’ve reached out to Ben for an explanation but have yet to hear back. In the absence of a solid reason, this looks suspicious. Is it the practice of KVR to censor controversial posts?

Post

It was explained clearly in the thread. Nothing suspicious about the reasoning. IBTL
Logic Pro | LUNA Pro | OB-X8 | Prophet 6 | OB-6 | Trigon 6 | Rev2 | TEO-5 | Pro 3 | SE-1X | Minitaur | Integra-7 | TR-1000 | Analog RYTM mk2 | Digitakt 2 | TD-3 MO | TD-3 | Maschine+

Post

Can you post the reasoning here? Though I’ve been a user of KVR for a dozen or more years, I post infrequently. Consequently, I have not met the threshold number of posts to be granted access to Hyde Park.

Post

It was moved because I brought up the topic of diversity in leadership, and the thread transformed into the subject of race. Once that happened, the Mod moved the thread to Hyde Park and locked the thread. So it would be wise to focus on the topic of the future of NI and Izotope to avoid the topic being moved to Hyde Park and locked.

Post

Strange. I’ve seen many threads go off topic at KVR throughout the years. I wonder what was different about this one.

Edit: I’m only guessing, as I can’t see for myself - if the content veered toward racist commentary, I can totally understand and support the thread lock.

Back on topic, I’m reposting my contribution to that thread because of the importance of changes coming to NI:

I'd like to personally thank Native Instruments and iZotope for inviting a wolf to play with the musicians. This new CEO, Mark Cattini, has no experience in the music industry, nor does it seem with mass market consumers (it's all cloud services sold primarily to corporations).

What does he know? SaaS, i.e., software rentals. And a focus on making money over and above everything else.

When you have a hammer, everything looks like a nail. And we are about to get nailed. I hope you are ready. If not, do as I have done, and gradually wean yourself off Native Instruments. Otherwise, you're in for a rough ride.

I hope I’m wrong, but the odds are against it.

This is interesting info. You did a research about this Cattini guy?

You forgot that you can use the site without registering? And confused that with the act of posting? That's my guess.

I don't think you're wrong. I've got an old 12 core here that will serve as a VEP slave with NI and iZotope software on it. I can't see this playing out in a way that makes sense for me or anyone besides the film/TV production people, subscription and very possibly low investment in advancing the software in the future.

Yeah, that was just plain senseless and beligerant (as usual in KVR).
Let's get back on topic, please.

Post

Indeed, I've browsed KVR anonymously since the early 2000's. It was only in 2018 that I registered. And I agree, that was senseless and belligerent.

I agree. Subscriptions encourage a shortage of innovation and consumer responsiveness.
