Gibson also filed for bankruptcy in 2018:

"By 2015, Gibson was doing $2.1 billion in annual revenue, but its profit margin had dropped to 4 percent". (2.1 billion times 4% =84 million)
"Over-leveraged, Gibson had been negotiating with banks and creditors for months. A July 23 deadline loomed for maturities on over $500 million of funded debt obligations, the company filed for bankruptcy".

Dun & Bradstreet puts Gibson's annual revenue at $295 million:

See this is what I'm saying, none of us know what we're talking about. We simply don't have the numbers at hand to form a cogent opinion.

What will the Fender and PreSonus merger mean in the long term? I doubt 99% of the employees of those two companies know and none of us here have a clue so we just wait and see what happens.

Pray for the best and plan for the worst is always sound advice.

Gotta agree with this as well. However, I don't think it's a reason for us not to discuss this subject (we're at KVR for this after all, aren't we?) :)

No nothing wrong with the discussion as long as we all know we're just guessing.

Yeah, but this is kinda stretched. "Bedroom" computer music only became really viable around 15 years ago, not "decades". Before that I'd say guitars and electronic instruments were pretty even among young musicians.
15 years ago...you have no clue at all...KvR came out in 2000 but only 15 years you say? 2006? Before computers took over in THE 90's, there were a whole slew of digital recording packages for the bedroom (I know, I fed my family and paid my rent selling them), before that it was tape...I had a 4 track studio in my bedroom in 1986  I believe 35 years is indeed decades

edit: as for guitars and electronic instruments being even before that I grew up in the 60's and 70's...my first wife before we were married in 78 worked for Arp on Hartwell Ave in Lexington Mass, we had Arp shirts with a G clef...I went off to the army with those shirts...no one could even figure out how to say it because of the G clef let alone ever heard of the company. On the other hand, I recall guitars being a bit more popular than that in the 70's

I see your point, but I was refering to the moment when all this got really massified (mainly because of the internet and powerful enough home computers. So, 15 years ago).

nope...but this is exactly why so many older people know what they are talking about...you see we grew parallel to technology starting with the basics as we learned and grew, we now see the value of that as opposed to todays bloated software and for us it started long before 15 years ago...it was 15 years ago for you...thats fair, but please dont speak for others

I may not have been married in the 70's, but I'm also an older bloke that grew in parallel to music trends for the past 50 years. Geezers FTW!

I think there is a misunderstanding about what we're talking about. So, I stand by what I said but, of course, respect your POV (and no, I wasn't trying to speak for others. Just voicing my own opinion).
