If you already have a previous Standard/Ultimate version and this collection is what you really want, best would be to get K13U CE upgrade for 50% off in the sale that should start in about 10 days or so.

If you are interested in the newer stuff, you will need to wait for June 2023 to get the v14 update/upgrade for 50% off, assuming Komplete 14 will be released next year September/October as per usual 2-year cycle.

I am not much interested in the newer stuff, so will most likely stick with K13U CE. If they do drop Battery 5 or Absynth 6, I will be tempted to update to K14 Standard using my K8 license.
Yeah. I have K13 standard. I do have some interest in the symphony series and quartet. Enough to wait until 2023. Not enough to make the jump to UCE.

If you already have the collectors edition though, how would you be able to upgrade your K8 license? I thought once you upgraded to the collectors edition you couldn’t purchase updates to lower versions. Perhaps I’m missing something here though.
I have K8 -> K8U -> K12UCE -> K13UCE. I will never ever sell K8U and K8 (can't sell K8 anyway without selling K8U first). However, I can consider selling K13U CE at some point, and even K12U CE, and then use my K8U license to directly upgrade to K14U CE. If K14 includes Battery 5 or Absytnh 6, I can "update" to K14 Standard because I have K8 has the base license.

With Komplete it is usually best to have one standard and one ultimate (could be an upgrade from standard) license in the account. This way, you can use the standard license for major Komplete "updates" because the core/big changes are applicable to all Komplete bundles standard onwards. Having the Ultimate license gives you additional flexibility to update to next Ultimate or upgrade to Ultimate CE, which can be an optional thing. For these reasons, and also the relative difficulty of reselling them, NEVER EVER buy full version of Komplete Ultimate or Ultimate CE if you want to continue with NI ecosystem.

Since you have K13 standard you are in a good position. If you grab K13 Ultimate during the 50% off sale, you can get the Symphony Essentials Collection for now, and then when the time is right, you can use that license to upgrade to K14U or K14U CE in the future, assuming you can do without the Symphony Series by going the Ultimate only route.

Also, important to remember that they shuffle a few products between Standard and Ultimate bundles, so always make sure when you sell or buy updates/upgrades that you won't lose stuff you had earlier in your bundle.

Hope this helps. If you need more specific help, feel free to PM me. :tu:

Thanks! This was a great explanation. I am new to native instruments. Just got K 13 this year. I think I will wait until 2023 for any upgrades. Ultimate doesn’t have enough included to justify the price for me right now. Even at the discounted price.

Similar- I have 13U and nothing has come out so far (all the rompler content stuff) that would even tempt me to update- half the stuff I wouldn't even download free (not that it isn't good, its just not my thing)

Hopefully they are also working on some big new stuff for the launch, but the output has been disappointing since 13- no real follow up, no big updates for Massive X or the promised new amps for GR6 (last years big addition).

NI's older stuff (Absynths, FM8 etc) is staring to look embarrassingly old to be sold to new users as part of Komplete...I don't know how long they can keep adding that as new software without updating. Even Kontakt which is their flagship and was updated looks seriously dated on modern displays.

NI are a big company with a lot of developers, Updates for quite some time have been little tweaks an bug fixes...they must be working on something bigger!

Personally I would love to see a focus on KK, there are so many places they can take it (like Kore was, or Unify is) but it seems to be a bit stuck with its current functionality
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!
